Waverly would probably be assigned to Jackson to avoid that.

Today's officially the day that they will announce the new divisions. From the past few meetings, they have posted the minutes and such around 2 or 3 pm.

Looks like Peebles and North Adams will be dropping to D4 which will make D4 much more competitive. Will be interesting to see how the D4 sectionals will change (Webster or Western Latham to Meigs Sectional?). D4 Valley sectional will basically be a SHL/SOC I conference challenge. As others have said above, Peebles instantly becomes a Regional contender next few years. Gotta think North Adams will make some runs as well.

Unfortunate for Minford that they now up to D2...much more difficult to get deep in D2 tourney.*

Especially if D2 drops to only one regional qualifier next year!

But, Paint Valley also drops to 4 and they should be solid at least the next couple of years and could return to the Convo for the 1st time since 02.

Also, the Waverly sectional loses 3 schools, so will we see a new set up that brings Southeastern and Zane Trace back there? Especially since Waverly logically goes to the Jackson sectional.

I could see SE, ZT and Portsmouth coming to Waverly which would make it a very challenging sectional.

I'm sure that Portsmouth would like to leave the Jackson sectional as much as the other Jackson teams would like to see them leave....Still time for a super sectional :122245 :122245 :122245 :122245

I'm ready for an open draw super sectional, which allows teams to bracket themselves in the positions they want to be in. Success should be fully awarded and it should be about advancing our best teams to district play. They do a 14-team super sectional in D2 girls soccer now, anyway.

For example, if you have Vinton County or Logan Elm play, it could be at SE or Logan. Athens and Gallipolis could be at Jackson and so on. I'd open up all the sectional sites and play the games according to closest site to alleviate some of the travel concerns.

Good news: no district that had more than 16 members only had 1 regional representative last year.

Bad news: the 2 girls SE fall sports that have 17 members each only have 1 regional spot.

So lets hope 18 is the magic # for getting 2 regional spots in basketball this year. D2 is too deep to only get 1 team out in our area.

The Jackson sectional has a streak going.......4 years in a row a team from that sectional has won the regional title, and the 2 teams playing for the regional title were both from Jackson all 4 years.
