Re: 2/2 Friday night showdown Waverly @ Wheelersburg
I've seen both teams a couple times, this should be an absolute battle. Having Salyers back will definitely help Wheelersburg, he's a great shooter and just a great athlete in general.
Talent? - Burg has more talent but it's not by a ridiculous amount.
Team? - I'd say Waverly is the better "team" up to this point, but Wheelersburg started late.
Coach? - I'd say Robertson gets the edge but it's also not a ridiculous margin. Mr. Robertson will have his kids ready to play in a hostile environment.
With that said I'll predict something along the lines of:
Waverly 62
Wheelersburg 58

Re: 2/2 Friday night showdown Waverly @ Wheelersburg
Wheelersburg will have to do better than the spread the floor "one on one" offense they showed vs Oak Hill when I watched them ... the Pirates looked like they try to "out athlete their opponent" - the belief being WE have better athletes, here "I" come , try to stop ME ... not a recipe for wins vs good TEAMS imo ... maybe the game vs Oak Hill was a " bad offensive" night for the Orange & Black ... look forward to reading the game rundowns for this one !

I don't believe Wheelersburg is more athletic. Howell is a two time 1st team all state quarterback. Wolfe has a brother who plays football at Akron and is a division 1 Caliber athlete. No one in southern Ohio is quicker than Remington. Adrian and Marquez very athletic. Penrod off the bench may be the most athletic Tiger of them all. This will be a war. Have seen Wheelersburg 3 times and have yet to see them run a offense. That hurts them. Being at Wheelersburg is a big advantage. Hard to win there. Holden is a great player but someone else is going to have to step up. Trust is capable but stil young. I will take Waverly by 6 with Robertsons coaching being the difference. Should be a great atmosphere and a great Game! Go Tigers.

Sounds like Waverly is the most athletic team in the district.Ukfanatic wrote: Thu Feb 01, 2018 6:25 pm I don't believe Wheelersburg is more athletic. Ok thanks for the info I just always thought they were all supposed to be one size but I just read where NBA and College courts are 94×50 but high school courts can vary anywhere from 94×50 to 84×50 but some can be 84×42 learn something new everyday! Thanksdanicalifornia wrote: Wed Jan 31, 2018 11:58 amThe idea is to have similar to the same sized courts, but it doesn't always happen. Waverly is much wider than most HS courts. Just in Fayette County, you have Washington which has a huge court and Miami Trace (for this year at least) that has a shorter and more narrow court.scott1297 wrote: Wed Jan 31, 2018 9:53 amIsn't all high school basketball courts the same size?? Some gyms are bigger than others far as seating goes but I always thought that all the courts were the same size?smurray wrote: Tue Jan 30, 2018 10:26 pm This is gonna be a heavy weight fight. I’m sure Wheelersburg is better than they were for round one but I can assure you Waverly is way better than they were then too.
This game is at Wheelersburg with a much smaller court which helps the Pirates.
Waverly has several players who can go off for 20 points on any given night, not sure who else Wheelersburg has besides Holden who scores consistently.
Waverly ran all over a very athletic WCH team tonight.
Obviously the 3 pt line and FT lines are the same, but that's usually where the similarities end, especially in SE Ohio.

I don't believe he said that. He was comparing Waverly and Wheelersburg. If Waverly is more athletic than Wheelersburg does that make them the most athletic team in the district?Ironman92 wrote: Thu Feb 01, 2018 6:48 pmSounds like Waverly is the most athletic team in the district.Ukfanatic wrote: Thu Feb 01, 2018 6:25 pm I don't believe Wheelersburg is more athletic. I don’t know but he described some impressive sounding athletes. I’m not doubting but I can’t think of a team I have watched that sounds more athletic than that.smurray wrote: Thu Feb 01, 2018 9:46 pmI don't believe he said that. It should be a dandy. Hopefully the Tigers play the way they have been and truly believe they can win this game.Ironman92 wrote: Thu Feb 01, 2018 10:35 pmI don’t know but he described some impressive sounding athletes. Bench scoring, free throws decide this one. Whichever squad makes more free throws win. Don't forget Howell was held scoreless vs WCH look for him to play great tonight. Waverly wins by 5+.

A little off the main subject but can anyone give us the record of each schools JV team?

Waverly’s JV is 9-6. They lost to Wheelersburg by 12 in the last meeting.
Re: 2/2 Friday night showdown Waverly @ Wheelersburg
The great thing about Waverly's JV squad is all the kids are playing, getting good minutes. No need to dress em if they are riding the pine. This will pay off down the road.OldTiger wrote: Fri Feb 02, 2018 2:36 pm Waverly’s JV is 9-6. They lost to Wheelersburg by 12 in the last meeting.
Re: 2/2 Friday night showdown Waverly @ Wheelersburg
Waverly was up 22-16 early second when Marquez went out with an ankle injury. He didn’t return.
Tigers have contained Holden but Truitt has 13.
Whoever makes a run may just win this one.

Looks like Marquez will not return and he isn’t happy about it. Tigers a man down.
Let’s go Tigers!
