12/20 Southern @ Eastern

Wow, Pullins shot 13 free throws and Carnahan shot 10, they both should have 19 pts. I heard Southern had 23 fouls in the second half to Eastern's 4 ? Is this true, the newspaper left out what Eastern shot from the line? It sounds like to me if you play at Eastern you better not breath on anyone.

Not true and Southern got several fouls stopping the clock.

Eastern shot so many free throws bc Southern was trying to stop the clock. The Southern fans arent complaining because they knew what their team was doing. If you werent at the game I wouldnt complain about the officiating

Coaching will only take you so far. You need kids who can play. The TVC has been a joke the past 3 years and I suspect it will only continue to decline. Kids now have social media, cell phones and elaborate video games..who needs to spend time in the gym? It shows on the court. A friend compared the Eastern/Fed Hock game last week to a Freshman game.

Side note: I saw Trimble on Nelsonville tv cable last year and the whole team was wearing head bands??? More concerned with how they look than how their game looks.[/quote

There will be no sign of head bands and such if those in charge eat a whole bunch of crow, as well as their pride, and make the right move. Time to go back in time and bring back the storied tradition of great basketball and cheerleading.[/quote]

The only player on the eastern squad that was coached by Caldwell was the carnahan boy. This is a brand new team and they are playing for keeps. Quit dogging all of the players and give both teams some credit for playing a game that they may never forget. Keep up the good work boys.

Caldwell has nothing to do with the boys anymore. We know he left.. Quit griping about why. Coach Britton is doing a good job with the boys and deserves some credit for it. Way to go Eagles! You are proving many people wrong.

Why were they stopping the clock when they had a big 4th quarter lead? What were the foul totals in the second half if it wasn't 23 to 4? I bet you don't have any idea?

Congrats Eastern on a solid victory over a good Southern team. The TVC Hocking is wide open. Belpre, SG, Eastern, Southern and Fed Hock are capable. Miller may not win the TVC this year but my guess is they are going to get one of the favorites this on their court. They have some real nice young talent. I am just thankful SG survived last night.

I mailed a copy of the rule book to the british coach once he got the job along with a contract that detailed the payment procedure necessary to secure the same sort of "homecourt advantage" that Howdy always enjoyed. He must be a good coach cause he hasnt called me so far.

There is a tradition of hard work and intensity on the floor, mostly due to Howie. Don't really see how he got these kids who were younger or didnt even play ready for varsity basketball though. Can we just make a new forum for praising Howie Caldwell's efforts at Eastern. I think he was a great coach and I was the biggest fan of his when he was here, but those days are over!

Now, on to Eastern or Southern basketball! When is there next games? I believe Easterns isn't until next tuesday
