Also, it was obvious Waverly wasn’t comfortable with a press, even a half court press. When Burg went to a press it caused turnovers and none bigger than the one towards the end of the game.
Probably doesn’t happen with Marquez in the game. Waverly has not been affected that much by the press this year.

Made one 54-50 2:48 to play.
That was for sure an intentional foul. He had no intentions of going for the ball.

Swank and crew watched a good one tonight. Wish burg wouldn’t have skimped on building a halfway decent sized gym though. Maybe I’m spoiled by having a home gym big enough where i don’t have to rub elbows with strangers....

Didn’t realize Waverly had a key player go out I thought they had the better team the first half. Free throws free throws free throws. If they played 10 times I’d say you’d see a 5-5 split.

About that over rated chant... Holden has got some skills but from a 3rd party perspective he gets lazy on the floor sometimes. He’s got an attitude you can see from a mile away. Kids playing defense on him and he looks annoyed someone’s guarding him hard. He could play D1 if he gets his act together and develops a decent jump shot and shoots better from the line. I just don’t see where some folks on here say he’s the best athlete in Southern Ohio.

And that’s the Swank take on it tonight.

Waverly was 10 for 18 from the line. Burg was 19 for 24. Very fun game to watch. Two really good teams doing battle. The officiating was very good I thought. Consistent throughout. Burg made the plays they needed to make to win. Marquez being out changed the defensive plan for Waverly. COBE was guarding the point with remington on Holden. When Marquez went down remington had to switch to the point. Holden is a tough matchup for Waverly when healthy. Really tough when your down a great defender. This was the point Truitt really excelled. Hats off to burg on a great game and knocking down their free throws.

Adjustments after waverly player goes out. Going to press late to get a turnover and a bucket to seal the win. Wow this would signify coaching to me. Sick and tired of all the negatives about burgs coach. Sounds like he is doing a pretty good job to me

I don’t think Burg had a real say in the size of the gym. I believe the state took care of that.

He is the best athlete and he is lazy. He’s 6’6” can handle and jump out of the gym. Athletically he’s a notch above because of his ability with his 6’6 frame. If he’s 6 foot, he’s like everyone else.

how is the best athlete lazy? Isn’t that an oxymoron?

No. An oxymoron would be a two left footed athlete

I found it interesting the waverly crowd cheering for the intentional undercut foul by a waverly player against Holden. Grown people cheering.

I like and get along with a lot of Waverly people but they may be the whiniest fan base I’ve seen. No clue why. Waverly is good people but nothing seems off limits during basketball games.

That would be nice but Burg has always had gym problems. Old middle school gym was cozy. Old HS gym had no visitor section. But we don’t want visitors to get too comfy. They might stay longer...😉

‘Twas the year Webster won state and Burg hit the three at the buzzer to win the game at Burg I think I stood on the floor with the cheerleaders just to watch!

Incorrect. Seth Cowgill hit the game winner in 2005 @ Wheelersburg, Jeeps lost in the Regional Final to Africentric that season (which was eventually forfeited). Jeeps won state in 2006.

Love how people still knock on Burg’s old gym. That school was built in the 50’s and I’m guessing HS gyms weren’t such a big necessity back then.

Now to the current gym, Burg was one of the first new schools that was told by the state that they weren’t allowed to build a big gym like the other schools in the county and oh, by the way, with the new gym the only fans that got more seats was the visitors. If you don’t have a reserve seat you have to arrive around 530 to make sure you get a seat. I don’t understand why Burg doesn’t take the one section on the visitors side closest to the end student section and make that home seating for Burg. Put a rail down the steps like the old gym had that signify that is a home section.

So, in a nutshell you’re welcome for the extra seating now. Your gym is supposed to hold more home fans than visitors and at Burg now that isn’t by much. South Webster on the other hand has a HUGE home side and a so so visitors side.

You are right but nothing they could have done about it. There hands were tied. Do you really think Burg would not have built a huge gym wth the kind of following they have?

Check a Burg game out at the convo or for that matter one of the bigger gyms here in the area. You’ll see fans at away games you won’t see at home games because you can’t get a seat at home.
