If Rock Hill continues to play team ball I say Rock Hill. The inside threat opened up the outside 3's and mid range jumpers at River Valley... the result was the best game to date... Matney's 29 1st half points (35 overall)sure helped too. He's playing relaxed and it shows. For that matter, the whole team played more as a family and less as individuals as they did earlier in the season... that will be the key to their end of the year run... they have got to stay together... although Matney had a tremendous game that was a team victory... The Hill won by 25 with most of the starters on the bench the last 4 minutes... It seemed to me after the game that all of the players I talked with were excited for Matt and even more excited to finally be clicking... It's important to celebrate those performances and never forget the guy pushing the ball up the court, or the one making a good pass, or the one crashing the boards, or the guys on the bench who are cheering the team on... Rock Hill did that at RV and if they continue at CG I think they begin to pull away. Go Hill!!!

I read it again myself and it is true! A fist is stronger than five indivual fingers... they played as a fist Friday night... The index finger may have done a few more things for which the hand was grateful, but we must maintain the fist!!! We have got to continue to encourage family not individualism... I'm glad the first big breakout individual performance came from Matney... here's why... I believe he is so low key about things and is slow to pound his chest after an awesome play... (BTW, we have some younger players who could take some notes from that type of behavior)... But, I talked with Matt after the game and he was understandibly excited (as excited as Matney gets) but still possessed a humility that is refreshing in this day of self-promoting, cocky athletes... That's the kind of mindset that I believe will carry this RH team to the top... Tuesday night someone else might shine, but it really doesn't matter who, as long as the family prevails... and if someone else does have a particularly good night of scoring, passing, or rebounding - I'm convinced that Matney will be the first in line to pat them on the back! That's why we all love this group of boys so much... they may occasionally feud, but in the end, they stick together as brothers... Go Hill!

Although CG is much improved this year, RH wins this one with ease.

Sorry to say they did not play that well last. night. Matney who has been on fire. did NOT hardly touch the ball like he should. Wide open at times and never got the pass. Open shots everywhere that never came to pass because they were NO passes to the open shot. No team really last night. They just got lucky playing CG. THey should have slaughtered this team. OH well. I hope they play alot better than they did. They will have to be on the top of their game on Friday.Going from the Chesapeake game compare Showmaker to Mayo. HAve to be guarded hard. Who ever contained Shoemaker in over time to make him scoreless should handle Mayo. Maybe double team Two best defense players on him and if there is not team work then forget it, It will not be pretty if they don't work as a team.

In the Chesapeake game Davenport guarded Shoemaker until he (Davenport) fouled out in the 4th quarter... he held Shoemaker to a total of seven points (all of them free throws)... I don't know who picked him up after that... Shoemaker scored another 5 points toward the end of the 4th and into OT... Granted that was not a typical Tyler Shoemaker night... They put Davenport on Hatfield too... he was held to single figures while on him... He topped out at 11 points that night... Even with that, I'm not sure Nate is the single guy to guard Mayo... we may need a spy in the middle to collapse on penetration... we may even need to mix it up with some speed (Pierson), Physicality (DePriest, Kuehne) and length (Davenport)... Give him some variety... a RH Denfensive Buffet if you will! I'm sure the coaches will figure it out. Help side defense will be crucial in this game! The thing is, SP has other players you have to worry about as well... they are a good team.

I know Pierson had Shoemaker in OT but he did not score on Pierson( just foul shot. I believe Pierson was there for the stop to put everything into OT. Anyway I am sure that it will have to be two men on Mayo. Is Mayo Right handed, That was always the problem with Shoemaker. Anyone can tell you that it is alot harder to guard a lefty than a righty. If we stop the rest of the pointers , That may be the key. Mayo will still score but hopefully we can slow him down but we can not forget the other players, Good luck Hill

I completely agree bballrh with that being said, I also think that Depriest should have been in a lot longer, if not have started then he was. This kid has started Varsity since he was a freshman an now because of an injury (which he has completely healed from) they don't put him in hardly at all, to me that seems unfare, and I know a lot of others who feel the same way.

hahaha, you are comparing SHoemaker and Mayo? There isn't a person on the team who can guard Mayo!
