Great game by the Ironmen. Coach Fulks led one fluid looking team out there tonight.
Colt Chapman and Luke Eisnaugle led the way for the Ironmen with 27 and 22 points respectively with numerous rebounds for each.
Jackson with 2 straight wins early on.

Jackson 61, River Valley 36 was the actual final score

I was expecting this to be a close game going either way. Congrats to Jackson and Coach Fulks on the win.
How about JV score? Was there a freshmen game tonight?

Pretty sure RV has only 1 sophomore in the program this year. Decent freshmen group. Think they are playing a limited number of freshmen games this year.

One of the younger coaching staffs around I would guess. All 3 looked like pretty young guys.

Nice win for the Ironmen. Sounds like Colt and Luke were unstoppable tonight.

Did any of you guys go to the game last night? I did and I saw Eisenaugle and Chapman both at around 6'4"-6'5" destroy RV in the paint! Lewis was winded early and RV stayed in man defense. I knew when I saw Trey Noble at 5'9" being posted up by Luke Chapman there was a real problem. Jackson scored 61 points with those 2 having 49 combined. How do you not play a zone at some point and try and force a team to beat you from the outside???? Also the freshman Chris Mac is 6'4" and Jordan Gilliland 6'2" why don't you use them to at least put a body on a big guy for a few minutes a game? For Rv the guys playing PG combined for 4 turnovers, 2 pts, 1 assist between 3 guys.
RV won freshman game 37-24
Brycen Hatfield had 6 pts in 1 qtr (6 of 6 from FT line!)
Brayden Greer had 6 pts in 1 qtr
Jordan Gilliland had 10 pts in 2 qtrs
Chris McAvena had 5 pts in 1 qtr
RV Junior Varsity won 36-18
Brayden Greer had 13 pts, 4 rebs, 3 steals, 1 assist, 1 turnover
Brycen Hatfield had 5 pts, 2 steals
Chris Mac had 5 pts, 2 rebs, 2 steals

A zone might've helped....but Chapman is still going to get to the lane and finish 16 inches above everyone else or dish off to his buddy Eisnaugle

They did have some nice size kids on JV, not sure what they would've done to slow down the athletic 6'5 duo.

Those 2 boys are good ballplayers indeed. My point however is that if you are getting beaten anyhow, why not try something different? And what I said was not a knock on Noble at all because he is a good athlete it's just that a 6'5" guy should score easily on a 5'9" player, therefore they need help.
Like in football if you're playing a nickel or dime defense and the other team is running the ball for 10 yards a carry don't you switch to a 5 man front like a 5-2 or 5-3?

Pretty much the same take that i had!
Eisenaugle and Chapman are both not very good with the ball in their hands away from the basket (over10 feet). I guess stubbornness by the coaches not to go zone early?
What i cannot figure out is why Harrison chases the opposing PG from RV base line on every possession all the way up the floor? I mean they don't press or jump him? What the hell is the point of this? All it does is wear out one of the best players on the team and send him to the bench,he also is not a threat to steal the ball because he does not use his hands well at all?
Jackson's guards were bad on both ends of the floor,I expect them to create match up problems for teams all year,Jackson was a bad match up for RV!
Chris McAvena and Jordan Gilliland are not ready to play at the Varsity level at all neither move their feet well enough to do anything but get out of position and foul.
Varsity is a totally different game than JV or Freshman and Jackson's JV and Freshmen were BAD!!
RV has 4 other kids who could play Chapman who are over 6' sometimes it's puzzling?
They can Bounce back tonight against Meigs and move on.
Everyone needs to support this team!

LOOK!
last year this game was totally reversed! river valley destroyed jackson, thats' basketball.
river valley will be the same as they have ben the last few years, they will improve as the year goes on.
this group of juniors and seniors prob has 1-2 kids who pick up a basketball in the off season that is why they underachieve.
the freshmen will be the same if they don't work to get better.
what i have a real problem with is parents coming on forums such as this and calling out coaches just like you did!
it does not help a thing, bleacher coaches are a dime a dozen, there are thousands of parents who watch games on tv and have coached rinky dink or aau think they know more than the hs coach, let me tell you from experience it's a whole different world.
criticism helps no one only causes hard feelings,i am sure you and other parents had a long parent coaching session on the way home? what you would have done differently. i was not at the game, i know coach hill well enough to know he has the kids best interest as no 1 priority, whether you like his style or not he is a great person and any one would be proud of their kid grew up to be like him!

"Chapman is not very good with the ball in his hand more than 10 ft from the basket"
Completely ridiculous statement.
