Previews are excuses to eat good popcorn and an occasional walking taco.

Yes, pretty good match-ups tonight and I agree, some nights, it will be anybody's ballgame.

Just a few observations: Eastern and FField was a good match up. Didn't see much of the exchange student?? FField will need to find a way to use their size. Peebles has so much going for them and could be really good; they will have to learn to play team ball first though. North Adams appears at this point to be the team to beat.

The West Union and White Oak game wasn't a bad match up it was a pretty good game, both teams could very well upset a team if someone over lookes them. North Adams and fayetville wasnt much of a game NA jus wore them down and dominated them. Kraig unger brought the usual with his 16 points, Tyler Jimison and Sam Louden both played well bringin in 11. Lynchburg and Manchester was also a game like the first one, Manchester can give a lot of teams trouble wit there height should use them more than they did. Eastern and Fair Field was pretty evenly matched. Both have pretty good height also should use it more. Peebles and Ripley was a pretty good one, but prolly shouldnt have been. Peebles should be one of the teams to beat in the league this year. Justice played good in the first quarter, he ended with 16 for the game.

I am betting that North Adams pressed the whole time and played their main players as Dave does every year. I heard the Fairfield-Eastern game was a battle, with both teams playing extremely hard. On C-103 it sounded like Manchester just went and played, not showing much. All the games seemed to be good games. Which teams looked like they were trying to win and which were just there to do their preview duties?

In my opinion baller, it looked like West Union coach was coaching a tournament game and their fans didn't appear to realize the preview doesn't count either. Whiteoak rarely had starters in and didn't appear to be trying to really do much of anything. North Adams was North Adams.....always trying to blow the other team out in the preview. Par for the course.
Tar heel fan 44....my guess is if you had a freshman that scored over 500 points in his first season, he'd probably shoot the ball quite a bit.

shljunkie,
In all respect, I certainly was not trying to coach a tournament game. I am a very intense coach and no matter where it is at, I am never going to set down and just let my kids play, preview or not. As a coach, and the coaching staff is behind me, we are trying to teach our kids discipline during games. We did not run one offensive set during the entire half. As far as the fans. They are excited for a new year to roll around. Alot of these kids really haven't had the support of a true fan base. We are trying to change that.

Point well taken coach/Mrhoops2u. No criticism intended however, just observations. I thought it was good to see you trying to get/keep the kids fired up. I know as long as there have been previews everyone looks at them differently/handles them differently and that will likely be the case as long as there are previews. Good luck with your season, I personally think you are just what that program needs.

I appreciate the words of encouragement. From the way it looked in the stands I'm sure it did look as if I was coaching the state finals game. However, that is just my nature. I have a love and passion for the game of basketball and I want to encourage my players to do the same. I express my passion through my coaching. I'm pretty sure we all know that from this past summer with a coach coming and leaving, the kids were having trouble trusting coaches that would come in. Luckily I believe I have them buying into what my coaching staff and I want to do.

So with the preview being over, who do you all think will win each division? Which team will be a sleeper? How will the jv squads look this year, are there a lot of underclassmen playing up?

Here are my picks...

Big School Division
1. North Adams- You have to knock them off to be at the top!
2. Eastern- They will play physical.
3. West Union- Their uptempo game will help them be a sleeper!
4. Ripley- They will find a way to win
5. Lynchburg- New coach and they lost a lot, their one guard will be tough though!

Small School Division
1. Peebles- New coach and return everyone!
2. Manchester- They lost a few but look for some underclassmen to shine!
3. Fairfield- Cox will be a force, not sure about their guard play.
4. Whiteoak- They are rebounding from a great coach, look for them to compete every night.
5. Fayetteville- They will play hard every single night, but I am no so sure they have the players to compete.

I dont get the 500 pionts comment...someone asked if Blake Justice had alot of assists...and I sayed 2 or 3 beacause he shoots alot...I did not mean that in a bad way...the Justice kid is a scoring...he is going to score more then he will have assists.

I'm sure every coach is doing what they believe is best for their particular team.

So many criticize the coaches but I can't imagine anyone wanting to win more than the coaches.
