What does the future hold for the 2010-2011 Lancers?
Will Chris Murray be back as Head Coach?
Rumor has it that Joe Butcher is done coaching the girls....Will he go back to coaching the boys?
The Lancer JV team grew a lot as players under Jonathon Thompson...there is some nice talent in that group.
Thoughts???

My thoughts are that Chris Murray will be the coach not Jonathon Thompson.

The Lancers have some good young talent returning next year. It seemed to me that Thompson really pulled the JV boys together. However, I agree with Athens 78. I'm sure that Murray will coach the Lancers Varsity next season. They will lose some offense with Thompson, and Torrence. But I think they will be better on the glass, and quicker at the guard and forward positions than they were this year.

The upcoming Junior Class is pretty solid, and did indeed improve a lot this year. They were a pleasure to watch!!!

I think that big tall forward named Hatfield needs to be playing Tight End and Outside Linebacker as well as power forward.....What a specimen!

Wouldn't argue that point one bit 31. It is up to the young man to decide whether he wants to suit it up for the pigskin or not. I hope that he does, as he could very well be a force at tight end. Linebacker, not so sure, as I'm not so sure how much football experience he has. Regardless, Tyler's a good kid and I wish him well.

Fed Hock head coach applied for the Morgan varsity job. One of only three or four applicants.

Wouldn't see why Chris Murray wouldn't return for the Lancers head coaching job considering how much respect he has earned from the Federal Hocking community. However, it's a tradition for the last 4 years that the Lancers get a new basketball head coach every season. If the rumor that he has applied for a Morgan county coaching job is true, I think The Lancers Assistant coach, Amos Cottrill should apply for his position. I'm still flabbergasted that Murray would apply for another coaching job. I also think it's bad for the kids in the program who keep getting new plays and new expectations and new styles of how to play basketball every year. They can't settle down and learn how to play under one coach which I think is vital for a teams success.
With that said, I look for the Lancers to be strong next year, and if they work they could easily win the TVC Hocking division. I expect big results from next year senior Ryan Rex and also Juniors Jon Skidmore, Austin Russell, and their big guy Chris Saylor. Skidmore and Russell put up impressive numbers on the JV squad this year and Saylor improved greatly from his Freshman to his Sophomore year, and I look forward to seeing him progress much more.
I wish the best of luck to the Lancers for their next season.

Any projections on the starters for next year?

I think that the only two dominant players for the Lancers this year will be Saylor and Rex because of their experience. Therefore I think the bench play will be a crucial factor. Starters will probably be: Rex, Saylor, Skidmore, Parsons, and Russell.

Maybe they should just stick with the sports with stable coaches........football.

I have always thought of Federal Hocking as more of a basketball school than a football school...
