Drop Out of the TVC

All the schools in Athens County should drop out of the TVC and start backup the ACL, the Athens County League!!! Before all the consolidations, these teams used to battle it out for the county championships in most sports. Let's return to the good old days and let the rest of the TVC duke it out of the TVC titles. I believe it would benefit all the county schools in many ways. No long trips to compete unless they wanted to, play each other twice during most seasons and bring back the glory of yesteryear to our county!!!!!
Come on A.D.'s of Athens County, Get it Done for the fans and athletes!!!!

Athens would win this is 75% of sports and it would benefit them in no way at all for postseason play.
Look at how teams like Unioto and Waverly are judged at tournament draws, they must come in with unbelievable records just to hope to get a positive seeding, because teams from mostly D2 leagues, look down on teams who play mostly D3 competition.

so there wouldnt be much of a change for athens then from what they have now

^^^
They at least get Vinton County twice a year and have their support at tournament draws. In an Athens County League, they would have 0 support and less games against D2 competition.

better yet, lets put them all in one room school houses and make all the kids walk to school uphill, both ways, in a foot of snow!

i think that is the plan, and then fire all the teachers that cant get them to pass the state tests cause we all know teachers are over paid anyway

It is 82 miles from Waterford to South Gallia. Only an hour and 42 minutes if the bus never stops for a potty break and has no traffic!!!!!!

How dare you call me a bonehead!! You don't know me and evidently do not know what it was like to play any sport before all the consolidations in the late 60's and early 70's. Are you a kid or what? And have you ever coached a varsity sport in your life? The TVC is too big and they keep letting any school that petitions them, Join. Why? It is time for the schools in Athens County to get out and stay and play close to home in their own league!!

Does anyone know the ballpark pay ranges for coaching basketball in the TVC?
Junior High
Freshman
JV
Varisty
Boys and Girls?
I doubt that there is a standard, but I am curious about the range of pay amongst the various schools.

Take it from me, every school is different. Depending on the school's size and emphasis they place on which sports, that is usually the way they pay their coaches. Please Athens County A.D.'s get your schools to start their own conference.

Driving distances? Really?
Wow - and here I thought moving to the TVC cut down on some serious travel time.
For most of my 36 years living on this Earth - Athens played in the SEOAL (and minus the fact that the SEOAL included drives to Portsmouth, Ironton, Zanesville and Chillicothe the last few years Athens was in the league) they still had trips much longer than what the current TVC schedule offers.
1. Drives to Jackson are now trips to Wellston.
2. Drives to Logan is now a 'hop-skip-and-a-jump' to Nelsonville-York.
3. Drives to Warren are now a 10-minute drive to Alexander.
4. Drives all the way down to Marietta is now replaced with a trip to McArthur.
5. Drives clear down to Gallipolis is now a short trip down 33 to Pomeroy (Meigs).
YOU CAN'T GET ANY SHORTER THAN THAT - YOU STILL HAVE TO PLAY 20-GAME SCHEDULES YA KNOW ... "AN ALL ATHENS COUNTY LEAGUE?" - THAT'S ONLY 5 SCHOOLS (WHICH IS ONLY 8 GAMES) ... WHERE THE HELL ARE THE OTHER 12 GONNA COME FROM?
THERE IS YOUR ARGUMENT AND I DIDN'T EVEN BRING UP THE FACT THAT TRIMBLE & FED HOCK HAVE HALF AS MANY BOYS IN THE SCHOOL THAN ATHENS.

Frankly, I astonished that buddyholly would even post something as incredulous as this. buddy - you had to anticipate a huge, negative backlash to such "backward" thinking. Athens county teams can't compete outside of the SEO area, so let's make it even worse and just play each other within Athens County? Let's create our own biddy league, and forget the OHSAA..........Geesh!
Honestly, that backward type of thinking only fuels the impression outside of SE Ohio that we are a bunch of backwoods hicks who don't want to compete. Really? Really? Are you serious?
Did you think that you could throw out such an idea and not get slammed into reality? Come on.......
Oh, and let's add Wood County Christian, Hannah, and Ohio Valley Christian as non-league opponents so that every ACL team gets guaranteed wins and everyone feels good. KUMBAYA!!!!!!!! NO!
Evidently, buddyholly has been listening to way too much of Jethro Tull's "Living in the Past".....
