2012 Junior High Boys Basketball Preview

There will be a 1st Annual Junior High Boys Basketball Preview hosted at Ohio Valley University this winter! We are currently going to open it up to any area teams that are interested. We already have a few teams committed, and we feel like this is going to be a very good preview event for the 2012-13 season of junior high boys basketball in the area.

There will be games in the following time slots on Friday and Saturday:

6:00pm - 7th Grade Boys (A vs. B)
6:45pm - 8th Grade Boys (A vs. B)
7:30pm - 7th Grade Boys (C vs. D)
8:15pm - 8th Grade Boys (C vs. D)

4:00pm - 7th Grade Boys (E vs. F)
4:45pm - 8th Grade Boys (E vs. F)
5:30pm - 7th Grade Boys (G vs. H)
6:15pm - 8th Grade Boys (G vs. H)
7:00pm - 7th Grade Boys (I vs. J)
7:45pm - 8th Grade Boys (I vs. J)

Game Play:

Games will be officiated by certified and licensed officials in the same manner as regular season contests
Games will consist of two 6:00 halves, with an optional 3:00 overtime period if there is a tie (can also choose to end in tie)**

**Preview game length is handed down by OHSAA

We fully expect that this preview will fill up quickly - each of the teams that I have spoken to in passing have all committed to the event, so send me an email or give me a call asap to reserve a spot.

Also, please make every effort to commit your school's 7th and 8th grade team (not just one or the other) ... we will play the same two teams for 7th/8th grade back to back. (hence the letters given to each team on the schedule in the parenthesis above)

Little Hocking (Warren - OH)
Caldwell (OH)
Belpre (OH)

7/8 Combined:
Williamstown (WV)
Blennerhassett (Parkersburg South - WV)
Wirt County (WV)

These are pretty much the only teams I had direct contact with ... So, I would say that once I am able to get contact information for the coaches of some other teams, we will be all set. A few of the coaches that entered teams seem to think that it will fill up rather quickly. Of course, the OH teams will match up against one another and the same can be said for the WV teams.

I am now down to just three slots open for each division (7th and 8th grade) ... I would like to have 3 schools bringing both and be able to finalize things within the next few weeks. I was told this would fill up quick and it certainly has. We are looking forward to a solid event!
