I'll be interested to see how it goes. Shouldn't be close, but that's why they play the games.

Not sure why folks make a big deal out of River leaving the PVC. I'm not THAT old, and River wasn't in the league when I played. With their financial issues, it doesn't make sense to have to drive to Beverly if you don't have to.

That's my point they are still playing Fort Frye non league in football and I'm sure they will play in other sports.

Football will draw more fans, thus more money at the gate, than basketball and it's not that bad of a drive in late August.
River wasn't that good in football last season and lost by a TD to Fort. I think the talent level is about the same at both schools.

The PVC won't miss River and vice versa. It wasn't the Pilots' fans who wanted to join that long-distance league anyway.

New AD will get a more localized schedule.

Well they will leave the league without a title in Basketball.

Like the fans from River will loose sleep over never winning a PVC basketball title - HaHa that's a good one.
Fort Frye will not be on any of Rivers sports schedules in the future. it takes time to fill all the holes left from leaving the PVC.
For the time being they will continue to play each other.
Don't take the young River basketball team lightly. They have a lot of athletic tall young men who are starting to jell very well.
There weak area is the outside shot. This will improve with time.
I personally will miss not playing some of the PVC teams in basketball. When you play good teams almost every night it makes your team better.
I would much rather enter tourney time with 12 losses playing tough teams than having only 4 or 5 loss season against mediocre teams.

I don't care about what your fans think I was stating a fact. This is going to be 20-30 point game.

I wouldn't bet against it that score. I'd say your more than likely correct. Don't act like FF never went through a rebuilding year. I can remember winning at FF when they had a young team after success the prior year. I know you have the red and blue colored glasses, but your failure to recognize what River did last year, while FF went out with a whimper makes you look foolish, regardless of last years head to head games.

As for River and the PVC, that was 100% a move for football. I was told that by many people on many occasions. The up the river schools care only about the OVAC. FF should know that by now.

Regardless of what River did in weak D4 district doesn't change the fact that Fort Frye was the better team. River won by 1 in Hannibal and got drilled in Beverly. Yea FF lost in the 1st rd to Ferry a team that won D3 district and was a better team then River. Fort Fryes down yr was a 12-12 season when Smith was a freshman that's pretty good for a down yr. Fort Frye has won the PVC every yr but 2 since 2002. River has beat the Cadets what 1 or 2 times since joining the league?

You should change your user name to Mark May...but at least May doesn't hate on everybody.

The fans of River high school were not happy the day it was announced that they were part of the PVC.
The decision to join the PVC was made by 2 people at the high school and It all revolved around football.
When the levy didn't pass and they went to the pay to play the parents started putting pressure on the school to get out of the league.
It's all about money. As for getting beat by 20-30 points. It very well may happen. What I don't get is the mentality of some of the people that post stuff.
There was never a River - Fort Frye rivalry. There's no rivalry for River in the PVC except Monroe Central. To who ever posted that the teams up north
only care about the O.V.A.C. was correct.

The decision to join the PVC was made by the River Athletic Council ,that is made up of all the head coaches ,the principal ,the athletic director , a non coaching teacher ,a booster and a board of education member . The decision to leave did have the coaches but many of the other people were not involved . There are new people in charge and many different ideas .The past ad .was not coaching while serving as ad. Many River fans think the move out was to help out some programs as well as the money issues . No River fan will be upset about not driving to Fort Frye ,Trail ,Caldwell or Shenandoah . They will trade competition ,in some situations, for a better gate and less travel . This information came to me while I was working at River as a non coaching teacher , and not the one on the council. Both the PVC and River will be happy with where they are .

So how will River try to control tempo? The Cadets get up and play they are much better this yr. They might have top 4 players in this game in Legraen 11, Lang 12, Justin Anderson 9, and Carter Kiefer 10.

I believe they have the top 2, but don't know beyond that as I haven't seen the others this year.

As far as how they could control tempo? Make buckets and force FF to take it out of the net. River will be patient on offense and think they rebound pretty well from what I've seen.

They can't win a shootout. They beat Frontier 55*49. If FF gets into the high 60's, that's likely too many for River. It was not a fluke they beat Frontier. Should have beat them much worse than they did.

I think it would be a major upset if the Cadets didn't get high 60s at home.

Think Fort Frye takes this one without much trouble. River might keep it close for a half, but I think Fort Frye's style will force River into an uncomfortable up and down game, which wont end well for them.

River 31 Fort Frye 69 Final . Believe it or not the Cadets didn't play all that well. They missed a ton of open outside jumpers. Fort Frye won this game with defense and easy baskets. Justin Anderson had an off 1st half but picked it up with 14 in 2nd half. Cadets are 9 deep and I think they could of beat River with any 5. Seth Legrean 21, Justin Anderson 14, Carter Kiefer 10, Chandler Lang 9, Tyson Niceswanger 7, Logan Madison 5 , Jordan Anderson 3
