What's the word on the Burg?? Will they have any players suspended from the "altercation" with Fairland??

I'd be surprised anyone will know prior to tip off. Chesapeake's record speaks for themselves. Coach Ater very defensive minded so Burg will have to hit outside shots to have a chance. Burg's defense is pretty good. Their offense stalls sometimes. Big runs may affect both teams based on the teams' style of play.

Chesapeake can’t afford to start as slow as they did vs EB. After watching Burg struggle with Fairland’s pressure in the 4th I wonder if Ater brings pressure tomorrow.

Burg’s defense is legit, if all players for Burg are in attendance I’ll take the Pirates in a close one.

Where in the hell did Wheelersburg get this coach? He is absolutely the worst HS basketball coach in southern Ohio.

I agree completely lmao. Dude was running back and forth in front of the bench and screaming directions every second or so. He looked stupid as heck. Congratulations to the Chesapeake Panthers on their win!!

Ater’s out-of-bounds play call with 30 seconds left leading to the and-1 was phenomenal! Kazee a fun player to watch as well. Good luck to the Peake at Regionals!

Interesting to see Burg sub in a player in 4th quarter of a District Championship game that whole area knows is openly considering transferring. Chalk it up as another off-court distraction that been way too common there this season. Will be interesting to see what their roster looks like next year.*

... totally agree art_vandelay ... sideout ... time out called by Coach Ater ... up to this point it was all Kerns/Kazee/Frecka and Thacker in the 4th quarter ... Coach Ater drew this one up in the sand ... 5-9 Kaden Perkins - 0 points through 3 qtrs ... in and out of the game due to foul trouble ... Perkins curled around the screens ... a perfect feed over the top , caught between the foul line and the rim ... left handed layup for 2 & 1 ... play of the game ... game winner in my book ... it ended up the only points that Perkins scored in the game ... as good as Kazee was ... game ball goes to Perkins AND Phillip Thacker, the 6-3 jr. was having nothing to do with shooting the ball for 3 quarters ... scored on back to back plays in the paint ... started slow for 2 qtrs but the intensity picked up after halftime - congratulations to the Peake ... AND it so happens that pfloyd is not the only person who has Twizzlers for every BB game - Coach Ater as well had his game fix of Twizzlers in a bag for his pregame snack !!! ...

This was a fun and entertaining game to watch. Kudos to the Wheelersburg kids and coaching staff for giving themselves a chance to win this game. After watching Wheelersburg struggle against the press in the 4th quarter against Fairland, I didn't give Burg much of a chance in this game. But I guess when it is tournament time - Burg is the Burg. I thought Burg was masterful in controlling the pace of the game. In my opinion this should have been a 10-12+ point game in favor of Peake.

But Cheapeake made the plays at the end to win and that is what the tournament is all about. Win and Advance. I think southern Ohio is going to see the effects of the new 7 divisions. There is no Columbus teams coming to the regional in Division - V so I think Minford or Peake have a great chance of winning the regional. Unfortunately for them there will be no "Final Four" expereince in the state semi-finals. Those games will be played at different areas around the state. (Maybe even at the Convo) They will not have the expereience of playing at Dayton Area or the Schott as teams in the past has had.

He’s not going anywhere, he knows he can’t play at Ironton.

Yes, congrats to Peake and good luck moving forward. From what I have heard the transfer is confirmed. As far as Burg's lineup next year, they'll be fine. They have some talent coming up in Dooer, Whit, Miller, Hansel along with 3 seniors. The problem is, with Minford and Webster losing 90% of their productivity, Prater is going to look like a basketball genius with his middle school, stand-still offense and senseless substitutions.

If the transfer was confirmed, he would be there. Thought Burg played a well planned game. The lack of inside presence is what hurt the Pirates as it has all year round. Peake had two pivotal plays in the 4th where peakes post player had the significant advantage. Smart calls by the Peakes coach.

As to hammering on Prater, I don't think people understand how difficult it is to run a team especially when players become unfocused. I mean right before the tournament, one of his starters became severely unfocused. Yet he was able to navigate to a district runner-up. Not agreeing on style of play, I can see but a little bit of grace should be extended when off court issues are having to be dealt with.

Spot-on. In this “blame the coach” era, Prater been catching strays on here all season. But let’s not sugarcoat it: behind-the-scenes bs was going on with this group all year. At some point, it’s time to start getting rid of kids. Should be a really short leash next season.

Only thing i disagree with during tourney was playing the player last night who just created the latest distraction. My 15th man would’ve been on the floor before him if it was me. Whether he ends up leaving or not, there’s no excuse for the timing of it.*

Still crazy to think that nobody was suspended from Fairland game. 🤷
Also a kid that went on a visit to a rival school is crazy to think on both sides !

Burg had the lead in this game the majority of the game except for when it really mattered the last 4 to 5 minutes of the game and that out of bounds play by Peake imo is what changed the tides in this game after that plat Burg just couldn't get a break Rucker missed a lay up to tie it up and Peake should be thankful that Burg beat fairland cause i got a feeling that fairland would be in the regional right now but anyway size hurt Burg all year long but imo Burg had one of the best defenses around at the end of the season good luck to Peake and go burg
