Re: Paint Valley Classic
Sounds like another great year for the Ironladies. Great PV Classic today, enjoyed it all
Re: Paint Valley Classic
Pete Hollon runs a good tournament.
Everything I've ever attended at PV has been very well ran. (run?)

I'm shocked VC lost this game. They should be really good this year. They're stacked with talent.pvad1 wrote:Game 13

Jackson looked really good, definitely a favorite in the league and probably in the district. The VC game was a real surprise, thought they would handle Valley. Burg looked like they are playing well, as is WCH. Overall, alot of good teams and a well ran tournament.

Thanks for the vote of confidence ty, but it really hurt the kids that the varsity coach was not there. Not that the coaches filling in were bad, but the kids missed their leader. I'm sure you were aware that the varsity coach was suspended the first 2 games of the season. The kids will grow and learn from this unfortunate situation. They are a great bunch of young ladies that are paying the price for the actions of others. Maybe now we can put the pettiness behind us move on with the season. Whether you are on the side that is still upset with with the hiring of the AD and/or coach, or if you are happy with the AD/coach, let's just move forward. I hear now that someone has sent a letter to the super about supposed allegations against the boys program. This has got to stop. Nothing like a community tearing themselves apart over sports. The kids are the unfortunate victims. Guess I have had this bottled up for a while.Ty Webb wrote:I'm shocked VC lost this game. They should be really good this year. Re: Paint Valley Classic
I too, was surprised by the outcome. Vinton County should have enough talent to win the league, (Athens will be tough) and make a great showing in the DII tournament this season. I believe with the inside/outside combination of Caitlyn Owings and Megan Dixon the Vikings should have an exciting punch to them. Then factor in the great role players, girls who just get it done, Xan Hale, Miranda Hale, Emily Zinn, Kelsey Griffith, Keisha Griffith, Maria Bartlett, and Johnna Remy, they have size, speed, and tenacity to bring excitement back to the girls' program. Coach Dixon is a very good coach and he will have the young ladies ready. Hopefully they can get their first win against my very good friend Coach Jeff Miller, unfortunately, for him I will be rooting against him.
I am not going to comment on the other nonsense for several reasons. First and foremost, I love Vinton County and I have nothing but the very best wishes and wants for our schools and the children they serve. I guess I have had that bottled up for too long.

I should not have commented on the "other nonsense" either Hawkeye. Would have been much better for me to have left that alone. Should always think before we post!
That was a tough loss, but as it was mentioned in posts earlier. Valley was a tough opponent. Number 23 played a very nice game on both ends of the floor. It also hurt the Vikings that Dixon had to leave the game a couple minutes into the second qtr with 3 fouls and picked her 4th up early in the 3rd qtr.

Re: Paint Valley Classic
I would like to thank everyone who attended this years Lady Cats Classic. It was a very competitive field of teams with some oustanding individual talent. Overall it was a huge success. We had some really good crowds Friday afternoon and great crowds the final 3 games on Saturday. The last few games really resembled a tournament atmosphere. Three years ago when the OSU/UM football game was moved to this weekend we knew it would hurt attendance somewhat but for the most part we are pleased where were at - really no way to avoid the conflict.
I would really like to thank all our sponsors and especially CNK Athletics in Circleville for becoming our corporate sponsor. I have used CNK the last 5 years for our Football, Basketball, and Softball needs and they are first class people.
Here are some thoughts from the weekend:
All Classic Team:
Jessica Schmidt - Wheelersburg
Jessica Guyett - Washington CH
Allison Prine - Eastern Brown
Allison Mitchell - South Point
Charlene Stout - Paint Valley
Dominique Doseck - Athens
Hannah Ridout - Manchester
Annie Rohr - Shekinah Christian
Courtney Blanton - South Webster
Baylee Wallace - Peebles
Whitney Bear - Valley
Madison Ridout - Jackson (Sorry when I announced Sara during intro's)
All Defensive Team:
Sadie Ruby - Wheelersburg (3rd straight year - she is so much fun to watch play)
Caitlyn Owings - Vinton County
Lydia Poe - Jackson
Taylor Brown - Peebles
Keisha Brown - Southeastern
Tori Yoder - Shekinah Christian
Hannah Miller - St. Joseph's
Jackie Kellough - Huntington (Just wait until she gets her basketball legs back)
Alex Phillips - Westfall
Maggie McDonald - Washington CH
The best shooter of the Classic might have been St. Joe's ball boy.....every break in action the kid was lighting up the gym....lol...kid could not miss!
I really tip my hat to all the coaches. I think it is great for coaches to put their kids to the test early in the season as they know it will only make them stronger down the road. There really is some outstading coaches in the Classic. I also commend all the fans for supporting girls basketball - the fans from Peebles, Vinton County, and Jackson is really what it is all about - love the game, love the kids, love to show your school pride.
Lastly, We would really like to keep the Classic going but we are always looking to improve. If there is anything we can do to make the Classic better please feel free to let me know. One thing I would like to see the home schools do is to contact there local radio stations...if this were a boys event many of these games would be broadcast - I think only 3 games were covered this year.

Re: Paint Valley Classic
I caught some of the games on Saturday.....very good event. PVAD1 I have a question though.. does your school Administration help or even show up for your schools games? I been to the last 3 Classics and have yet to see an Administrator.
