Re: BEST SPORTS REPORTER IN PRINT IN SE OHIO????????????
As one of the more vocal critics of SE Ohio sports reporting in the newspaper media, I am going to step up and give credit where credit is due.
Paul Boggs - You are always there, and some how seem to report on games, even a day or two after they are played. I'm guessing that you dog the local coaches to get the info, for which, I commend you.
Troy Bolin - Yes, your heart is in the right place, when you can make it to the right place. If you get to the game, you do a great job on your write ups. Hope that all that is creating issues for you gets resolved and we get to read your work come spring time.
Bryan Walters - Very hard working scribe, and I appreciate your work, and passion, for what you do. I'm going to put you in a tie with Troy for #2.
Craig Dunn - Always enjoy your write ups. Very well written, unbiased, and thorough. Logan is lucky to have you.
Guys at the Marietta Times - Joe Davis, Kevin Pierson, et al. Nice write-ups, but the timeliness and accuracy of some of the stats, at times, is questionable in individual game write-ups. Now when it comes to football and statistical reporting/summaries, the Marietta Times is by far the best, with their weekly "Rally" edition on Thursdays.
Just my thoughts, take them or leave them.

Mighty Oaks Fan and Steely Dan....Thank you for the kind words about all of us you mentioned.
Re: BEST SPORTS REPORTER IN PRINT IN SE OHIO????????????
There are some solid sports reporters in our area of the state that are very dedicated. Unfortunately, resources have been on the decline, but all of these folks are dedicated to putting out good products.

Not really southern Ohio, but Sam Blackburn from the Zanesville Times Recorder is entertaining. Also tends to write more with his heart but he isn't afraid to stir things up and that's for certain.

You've gotta love guys like that, wish there were more of them still out there writing. Being a newspaper scribe today is tough, and certainly isn't lucrative.
We need more thought provoking sports writers, or no, let me correct that, I'm sure we have thought provoking sports writers out there, we need editors that will let them say what is on their minds!!!!

Yes, I have had the pleasure to read both of these gentlemen's work, and are most deserving to be in the sportswriters Hall of Fame. I've been reading the Marietta Times for well over 30 years, and the Athens Messenger for the last 15 years as well.
