RedSolo....Welcome.

That article was set to launch on our website earlier today, but the web publishing function for it had been turned off for some reason.

Anyway, it's there now.

Enjoy

Thanks again. I just read 2 articles on that site. The first one was a good preview of the court house game. I've seen them twice and they are pretty good. I will make it to Saturday's game.

I read the Jackson and Gallipolis game article and got the impression that Jackson greatly benefitted from the officiating or played the style of ball to draw fouls. I wasn't sure which one it was. I've seen 6 or 7 games of Jackson and I can't say I ever left thinking they got it good on the calls. Alot of times they would be up kinda big and hardly get a call. It was a good article to read and painted a good picture. Did Jackson drive alot and Gallipolis stay on the perimeter?

Ridout is a good penetrator to the basket and draws a lot of contact.

Poe — with her size — gets the ball inside, has a good dropstep move, and thus defenders swarm her and foul her.

Jackson got to the line a lot as you can see.

Gallia made its shots in the first half, but it settled for jumpers on the outside.

Ok that makes sense. I watched a couple when Ridout couldn't get to the lane but she can draw a foul when she does. Poe is a tough matchup with her height and skill set.

Jackson only shot 13-23 from the line? That might haunt them if they don't improve that.

Or Warren.

Seems weird that Warren and Marietta are both gone already. Hopefully the Ironladies can stay focused and make it to the Convo.

Jackson 56
Washington CH 34

Poe 18
Ridout 13
Kari Jenkins 7
Wills 7
Hoover 5
Kacee Jenkins 4
Cyrus 2

Played pretty well overall. Love how they won the last minute of the 2nd and 3rd quarters

Gotta take care of the ball a little better.

The first couple of minutes of the 3rd qtr blew the game open for the Ironladies, after WCH fought back in the 1st half to cut it to 3 at halftime, after that it was all Jackson.

Pretty solid performance by the Ironladies today against a quality opponent. They did seem to have a couple stretches during the game where they got out of rhythm and the shots stopped falling, but they kicked it into gear and won comfortably. Poe was outstanding in the second half, and the overall defense in the 3rd quarter was what really allowed the Ironladies to open up a lead.

Things will get tough now as they travel to the Convo where Athens and Dominique Doseck await. Time for the girls to step up and claim a district title. Can't wait for Tuesday.

WashCH 9 8 10 7 -- 34
Jackson 14 9 20 13 -- 56

It was a 6 point lead at half after WCH cut it to 18-17. The turning point may have been right then when Poe went for a steal on an entry pass to Ryan on the left block and missed and took herself out of the play leaving Ryan wide open to turn and lay it in for the lead, but instead Ryan tried to take a "gathering" dribble before laying it in and lost the ball out of bounds. Then Poe went off right after half as Jackson scored the first 7 of the qtr and 16 of the first 18 to go up by 20. That made it a 21-2 run counting the last 5 of the first half.

Did the WCH defense make an adjustment or the did the Jackson offense? Looked like they might have been making entry passes from a little bit higher up on the floor. In the first half Poe had but two points and missed several close in shots that were closely contested by what seemed to be three defenders, but in the 2nd half she got it in much better scoring position with fewer defenders there.

I'm sure the Jackson faithful were amazed to see two of the same officials there that worked their lone loss at Warren. They were much better today. However, once Jackson went on their big run and the WCH coach got a technical, the WCH faithful were yelling about the fouls being 7-0 in the 3rd qtr, which I thought was very fairly called. Then for the next 5-6 minutes the officals started making all the calls and no calls in favor of WCH. WCH would drive in and initiate contact with Jackson who was in good defensive position and they kept calling blocks, when it should have been nothing or a charge. On the other end when Jackson was shooting several times there was heavy contact initiated by WCH and calls were not made.

Congrats to Jackson on the win. They do need to tighten up on the ball handling. I think they had 3 turnovers bfore they got their first shot of the game. If they get by Athens at the Convo Tuesday, and Miami Trace advances too, MT could very likely exploit that with their defense in Zanesville.

Two more quarters to win for the regionals.

Turnovers need to cease for a district championship to happen.

Great all-around game from senior Kari Jenkins.

11 points and 10 rebounds....6/6 from the line

Great 4 years!
