Another great overall effort by the Ironladies tonight. Nice to see everyone getting involved on the offensive end again.

The DIVISION II show-down Jan. 7th is getting a little more intresting I92 ...

Jackson (9-0) vs Athens (7-1)

Jackson defeated VC 54-47
Athens defeated VC 53-36

with Marietta, Fairfield Union, Jackson, Warren, Athens, Vinton County & South Point all sharing the same sectional ... any head-to-head match-up is vital ... the only way to garner one of those top 4 seeds will be to beat the other top teams straight up during the regular season, IMO.

I just don't know how to say it bulldog....but ever since the VC game Jackson has been lights out. I worry a bit about Jackson long layoff over the break but Coach Walburn has these girls rolling. Right now I'd take Jackson by 15+

Lynchburg Clay also beat VC by about those scores....I promise Jackson would beat them by 15+

Minford was 6-1 and we beat them badly.

We have one the premier post players in southern Ohio, the reigning SEOAL MVP (who is noticeably better this year) and mix that with sharp shooting Kari Jenkins and Whitney Wills and a great bench....

Anything can happen but I'd like to see Athens gain a 20 point lead @ Eastern Meigs or a 42 point lead at Chillicothe...or dominate Minford by 35.

You don't have to dominate ... a 1-point win is sufficient.

:)

BTW ... ask Walburn if he remembers the cheer we had specifically for him when he visited Athens as a player ... I don't think he had a lot of luck at McAfee Gymnasium back in the day - perhaps that trend will follow him throughout his coaching career.

In the words of Lee Corso ...not so fast... Not sure that is such a great analogy. Think the roll the Ironladies are on is a little different than the early VC game. Think Athens will have their hands full, but as they say on any given night...

Is it at Athens? You put Jackson vs Athens which means Jackson is hosting.

I know 1 point is sufficient.....but you used the VC comparison...I'd like to be able to compare with the past 3 games which is more relevant to the current team.

I'm sure Walburn is worried about being a 3 time all-league player( over 1,000 career points) and a key cog to Jackson only SEOAL title in the past 35 years....for giggles he was 4x all-league in golf, key to 3 league titles and I believe league MVP all 4 years.....but I doubt he remembers your cheers....he is pretty old. As for his shooting in McCafee....he'll be the best shooter in the gym, but that won't matter.

Happy Holidays doggy.

Don't you still owe me a dinner at BW3's?

We can go double or nothing on the girls match-up if you wish ... nothing would please me more than to see you pick up the tab on not only a Friday night, but the next day as well.

Nope you will be all square after the girls, and after the fall you are gonna be one down. Most talented sophomore group in recent memory gonna add just enough to the junior and senior group that has some great athletes and, well, let's just say it will be a different outcome than this past fall on the gridiron.

Take it to the bank :)

Jackson 55
@ Logan 45

Jackson busted out for 26 points in the first quarter to take a 26-7? lead

Walsh made the critical adjustment of getting out of the zone. The rest of the game was a battle of some excellent basketball players. Logan cut the lead all the way to 4 but Jackson got it back to double digits and then played keep-away.

Poe led Jackson with 16, Hoover 9, Kari Jenkins 9, Ridout 7

Logan's two freshman were very impressive.

Both teams....very talented and very well coached.

Horrible officiating....horrible.
