Pkbg So. 13 16 13 13 -- 55
Marietta 14 14 17 13 -- 58
A well contested game. South's biggest leads were at 11-3 and 24-16. Marietta's at 40-35 and 42-37, and 47-42. Le Anne Ross was "feeling it" as she hit for 36 points, while Greenleaf and Moore had 18 and 17 for South.
After Marietta scored the first two in the 4th to take the 47-42 lead, South ran off 7 straight to take a 49-47 lead, then a 52-49 lead. Marietta went up 53-52 with about two and a half minutes left. Greenleaf hit 1/2 FT with 2:12 left to tie it at 53. Then Moore hit 2/2 with 1:30 to go for a 55-53 South lead. Ross hit 1/2 with 1:14 left to cut it to 55-54. Then a well defended shot by Ross missed badly, but was gathered in by Ricci Davis who put it back up and in to give Marietta a 56-55 lead with 0:48 left. Marietta got the ball back and Amanda Brown was fouled and made both ends of the one and bonus to make it 58-55 with 0:21 left. South ran a perfect play with a double screen for a wide open trey for Halbert that just fell short, and the rebound was tipped out by Marietta, corralled by Brown who got it down the court and time expired.
