One OVC team will be representing in the state championship game for D5. Thoughts?

Portsmouth (25-1) vs. Proctorville Fairland (21-5), Saturday, March 8, at Logan High School, 4 p.m.
State Championship: Saturday, March 15, at University of Dayton Arena, 10:45 a.m.

Disappointing to say the least but it appears the OHSAA is working to save money by having these games at High School venues. I thought I had heard last year that semi finals would be at college venues but it appears the almighty dollar has won out yet again.

Maybe the most disappointing part is the drive for both teams and their fans. Once again, I thought the plan was to reduce travel but maybe not.

Is Jackson not available???????

Agreed. I thought it would be at Jackson. Ironton would’ve also made sense. If they were going to travel that far, play it at the Convo.

I saw the athletic schedule for Ohio University and they had Saturday March 8th as OHSAA Girls State Semi Finals- so OU was on reserve, however it comes down to attendance and the OHSAA has sorted messed up a good thing they had going on-
1st online only ticket purchase for 2 years and expanding to 7 divisions with D1, D2 being very much smaller than other divisions.

I plan on being there for this one.

If you’re going to have it at a high school, I could come up with a half dozen better options than Logan. Making both schools drive that far to host a random high school is just dumb.

Shawnee st, ironton, south point, rock hill, waverly, jackson, chillicothe. Wheelersburg is probably too small. Columbus must not know anything about ohio geography.

If it were to be in a high school, there are plenty of high schools that can host this game within reason.

Thank goodness they ended up getting this right. What an absolute joke that this game was going to be played at Logan High School. The location should have always been OU Athens as it is. This game being played at OU rewards both teams for phenomenal seasons. The crowd should be huge but at the end of the day these two teams are going to be focused on each other on that floor. Very excited for the match up Saturday.

Will this be OU’s first ever postseason GBK game for high school?

Girls SE district finals were played there 2009,10,11.

Im a Dragon guy but Ive said all year the state is Portsmouths this year , I see no reason to change my prediction now . Fairland is playing some great ball now but they are about one player away .
