Chillicothe 2
Warren 1
Very evenly played game for the most part. Chillicothe had more shots on goal and overall shots. Time of possession was fairly even. Chillicothe had many more deep throw-ins and more corner kicks. All 5 of the Chillicothe / Warren games over the last 4 years have been decided by 1 goal.
Chillicothe led 2-0 at the half. Goals #1 Drew Basil headed in a long free kick delivered by Tyler semancik. On the second goal John Lods finished off a Shane McKeever cross through the box that the keeper couldn't quite reel in.
Warren was awarded (and rightfully so) a PK with less than 3 min gone in the second half. A miscommunication between CHS's central defender and GK allowed a Warren player to win the ball and he was eventually brough down. Time was not a factor on the play as the defender had plenty of time to decide what he wanted to do with the ball. Kuhn for Warren buried the PK. Something Chilly will need to continue to work on.
Starner (#5) for Warren is one heck of a player. He gave Chillicothe worries all day, but overall Chilly was able to limit the number of good looks he had at the goal. He fought through numerous double teams. Sophomore defenders Paul Horning and Justin Ball had that assignment throughout the game and did a nice job. All one of the defenders could say was, "man that guy is fast"! Good player.
Chillicothe young defense still has a lot of improving to do but has been a real positive so far this season. Played 5 games and have given up a total of 4 goals. One team (Logan) scored two goals. Not too bad after replacing 3 of 4 starting defensemen and a GK.
The SEOAL seems pretty balanced this year with many teams that could beat anyone else on any given day.
