This just shows how much respect the voters have for southeastern Ohio teams. South Webster was #9 in the first two polls and even though they are still undefeated and dominating the area schools they dropped out of the top 10. I'm sure SW will roll through the sectional, cruise through the district, and then get taken down in the regionals like they do every year. As does every other soccer team from this area. Has any school from our area ever made it to the regional finals?

Actually several have made it to the regional finals or further... Webster last year lost a tight game to Worthington Christian, Minford the year before got blown out by Worthington, Unioto actually made the final 4 when they were in D3 in 05 or 06, which was it? Further back Valley had a year that they advanced.

South Webster will likely roll along to the districts... I doubt that they cruise there. Don't get me wrong, they definitely could/should win but this year they have to play the East district winner and there are a couple of strong teams there that can play with them and possibly beat them. Burg is the team that should roll to the regionals this year with the tournament draw they got.

That's why you leave a non-conference game(s) open and leave Scioto County and play a match to show the rest of the state you can compete. South Webster is a very talented squad. BUT D-III is loaded with talented teams this year. 50% of your top ten in D-III have state championship rings over the last 4 years.
Bloom Carroll tries to play at least 1 team from each district around the state of Ohio in a 4 year span,
they have a former player at IU.
Good luck to the all teams and especially the Jeeps!

2009 State Finals
WC-2
CVCA-1

2008 State Finals
Ottawa Hills-1
WC-0
CVCA D-II state champs

2007 State Finals
SCC-2
Hawken-1
CVCA D-II state champs

The last 2 years Scioto County has put a team in the Regional Finals!

South Webster beat Hiland 3-0 last year in the Regional Semi before losing to eventual State Champ Worthington Christian 2-1 in the Regional Final.

Minford lost to Worthington Christian 4-0 in the Regional Finals 2 years ago!

Valley made the final 4 in the late 90's (with the help of a great German Foreign Exchange Student!)

I believe those are the only 3 teams who made it to the Regional Finals from Scioto County, but am not totally sure. Wheelersburg has made it to the Regionals but I don't know if they ever won their semifinal.

i also agree that the SOC has had a good showing in the tourney the past few years... with 3 regional appearances in 5-6 years... Webster twice and minford once... Just have to get past hiland and worthington to crack the final four it seems... but it can be done, as webster was really close last year.

Burg Grad-- Webster actually has a tougher road to the districts and regionals this year. Webster would have to likely play Minford and/or Albany Alexander just to make it out of sectionals.
And as "hhs" said, Webster would have to play someone from the East that could beat Webster. There are some very good teams in the East.

Wheelersburg has an extremely easy road to the district final. Then they should win the district final. It's been a while since I've seen a team have such an easy road to the regionals.

Banddad- CVCA did win the DII title in '07. However they lost to Dayton Carroll in the title game in '08. That game ended in penalty kicks if I remember correctly.

Burg- Unioto lost to WC and Athens lost to DeSales in 2002, both in the Regional Finals
Unioto also defeated Bloom Carroll to reach the Final 4 in 2004

Zane Trace fell to WC in 2005 in the Regional Finals

Webster falling out of the top ten is their strength of schedule. I know the SOCI - SOCII schedule has been discussed at length, but having to play teams like Eastern, Clay, Valley, New Boston twice and only playing Waverly, Whbg, Minford once isn't going to get you many votes. Though, overall I don't know what advantage there is to being state ranked when it comes tournament time.
