Re: Athens P21 American Legion Baseball Tryouts
Every year about this time the following question comes up:
What Legion team am I allowed to play for?
From The 2009 American Legion Baseball Rules Manual, "Player Options", page 43, paragraph A & B...
A) Players in middle school, junior high school or high school freshmen (9th grade), shall play for the base school team of their parents/guardians legal residence/domicile.
B) A player in High School (including 9th grade freshmen) attending public, private, technical, vocational, regional or preparatory school outside a team's recruiting area may play for the team nearest the school they attend or the team nearest to their parent or guardian's legal residence/domicile.
The nearest team shall be the shortest driving distance as calculated by the Mapquest Internet map service.
(If a player wishes to transfer...)
The player must declare in writting on the National American Legion Baseball Form #76 "PLAYER TRANSFER FORM" the team they wish to play for and file their choice with the District Baseball Commission prior to June 15th. SUCH ELECTION SHALL BE FINAL AND BINDING FOR THE REMAINDER OF THE PLAYER'S ELIGIBILITY FOR AMERICAN LEGION BASEBALL UNLESS THE PLAYER CHANGES SCHOOLS OR DOMICILE.
Just trying to avoid possible confusion.

Re: Athens P21 American Legion Baseball Tryouts
10:30 am update: The rain continues to take it's toll on P21 Tryouts. Today (Thursday) we will again try to go at 5:00 pm @ Athens High. If we get good weather tonight, we will try to do the complete tryout in 1 night rather than 2 nights. Unfortunately this could make for a long evening at the field but due to the weather, we have no choice. If we are able to complete everything tonight, cuts will be made and rosters posted. Please check this website (http://www.p21baseball.net)before coming to the field. Updates will be posted when available....

Lets hope the sun shines more for the legion season then it did the high school season. Good luck to both teams.

Big game with Lancaster tonight. If the rain holds off but it doesn't look good that this one will get played.

You are correct on both points. Athens had rain last night and more is in the forecast today. Not good...
