Dingess pitches, bats GAHS to
12-2 win over Huntington Ross

Gallipolis senior Kyle Dingess pitched and batted host Gallipolis Gallia Academy High School to a 12-2 non-league triumph over Huntington Ross on the Bob Evans Field at the University of Rio Grande Friday evening.

Dingess, in five innings, allowed two runs and four Huntsmen hits in a game called after five innings because of the 10-run mercy rule. He fanned six and walked four. GAHS made one error.

At the plate, Dingess actually won his own game in the first inning with a three-run homer over the left field fence, scoring Caleb Warnimont and Tyler Eastman ahead of him.

Dingess also added a run scoring triple in the fourth scoring Warnimont to give GAHS an 8-2 lead. In the fifth inning, Dingess had a sacrifice fly to give the Gallians a 11-2 advantage.

At the plate, GAHS scored 12 runs on 13 hits. Ross made three errors. The Huntsmen had two runs on four hits.

Casey Williams was charged with the loss. He pitched 5 1/3 innings and fanned three and walked three. Kyle Deal took over in the fifth with one out and then gave up the deciding runs without getting an out.

For Ross, Seymore, Deal, Irvin and Vickers all had one safety apiece.

Gallipolis had four players with two hits apiece—Warnimont had a single and double, Dingess a homer and triple, Jim Clagg two singles, and John Troester two singles plus an outstanding game at first base.

Other Blue Devil hits were recorded by Casey Denbow, a double, and singles by Tyler Eastman, Corey Eberhard, his first hit of the campaign, Ben Saunders and Terry Smith.

The triumph left Gallipolis with a 15-7 season mark.
It was the second straight night GAHS had to play a game without its head coach, Richie Corwin, who had two sit two games because of an ejection at Warren Local Thursday evening. Cory Luce and Steve Slone took over Corwin's duties.

Monday, GAHS will host Vinton County in a south sectional Division II game on Memorial Field at 5 p.m. Ross dropped to 8-12 on the year and will host Northwest on Tuesday in a sectional tournament contest.

Score by innings:
Ross………020 00 -- 2-4-3
GAHS……313 23 -- 12-13-1

WP—Dingess. LP—Williams, (Deal, 5th).
