Shawnee State University Winter Prospect Camp

Shawnee State University Head Baseball Coach Ted Tom is pleased to announce Friday December 28th as the date for the sixth annual Winter Prospect Showcase. The showcase will be held at the James A. Rhodes Athletic Center at Shawnee State University in Portsmouth, OH and will be conducted by the SSU coaching staff directly. There will be two sessions for the camp to accommodate room in our indoor facility while allowing the coaching staff to better evaluate a smaller number of players. The first 40 participants will have camp from 9am-2pm. The second session for the rest of our participants will run from 3pm-8pm. Cost for the camp is $100 for individual players and is open to all players ages 15-21. The Bears are coming off a historic three year stretch that has seen the Bears accumulate 100 victories, two conference championships, and one NAIA Regional appearance. In those three years, Coach Tom has led his team to the conference championship game three times. Camps at Shawnee State have proven to be a successful recruiting tool for the program as at least one player has signed to play at Shawnee State from every single camp hosted by the current staff. There are 14 players on the current roster that have attended camp in the past, including 9 that attended last year. Three of those players hail from right here is southern Ohio.
This year, Shawnee State University has invited and received confirmation from other regional Division 1 schools to participate in the Winter Prospect Camp. This is to increase the exposure each player will receive by attending our camp. It is the goal of the coaching staff at Shawnee State to continue to expose players from Southeast Ohio and the surrounding areas and we are excited to be able to expand our camps in this way.
Camp will consist of a professional style workout for all players and evaluations of the campers will be provided at the camp.
