was told the coach met with the girls after school and told them he was resigning. Any thoughts or ideas who might be interested in that position?

I too heard of Coach Phillips' decision. You can question any coaches Xs and Os but he and his staff sure brought the worst program in So. Ohio very far with talented players. He took over when no one wanted the job because of the work that lied ahead for them. I wish Coach Phillips the best of luck with his faith and family. That senior class, led by Bri Dawes, is a formidable group with very good talent all over the place.

Don't know much about the inner workings of Chillicothe or if somebody is already in place to step up and take the job.

BUT

If the Cavs are serious about the softball program and looking outside of the system (SVC Coaches) they have some promising options available but it will take some recruiting to get them.

Top of the list readily available:
John Bennett, had a very successful run at Trace. John stepped down this year but I think $ome incentive could bring him out of retirement. Also some nice future prospects would follow him.

Like Coach Bennett long time Unioto Assistant coach David Neff has hung up the coaching duties. Plans to spend the extra spring time fishing, if he eats what he catches he must be planning on losing some weight as well. Again $ome incentive could delay his diet plans till Summer.

Jeff Bloomfield
I was surprised Trace didn't try to get him.
Very good fundamental coach of the game.

Maybe not so readily available:
Sam Beeler
I don't know the status of coach Beeler but it's safe to say the Adena
Job has not went the way he expected. Again $ome incentive and he would probably shorten his drive up and take the Cavs job.

Bud Lytle
A bit of a stretch, but Bud already works in the city.
Would be hard to get him away from Huntington this year,
That would take ALOT of in$entive.
But if the powers at be in Cavalier land want to get it done,
They can.

In fact several of the top coaches in the SVC are yet to be signed for the 2015 season.
If the Cavs are looking this direction now would be the time to offer a lofty contract to the coach they want.

Hard to see Coach Phillips go but i understand. Family must come first. I was fortunate to share some coaching ideas and athletes with Greg and he did a wonderful job bringing the program out of the cellar. The Cavs will miss him but be rest assured he is making someone's life all the better. Good man period! Best wishes to you Greg from an ex-coach too.

The job is still posted on the OHSAA website, so it doesn't look like a hiring has taken place yet.

iknow the details but the X signed a gag order until the official announcement.

I kind of had a feeling the Cavs was gonna make an offer to an established coach.

This is a great move by the Cavs,
The program has progressed nicely over the past few years
And this hire will allow the program to stay the course of improvement.

Is it true Light poles are going up at the Cavs home diamond as part of this deal?
X

You mean "Lytle" poles.

Oh my! It will be a shame if his daughter doesn't transfer to Chilli. She's a senior, what father would mess out on his daughter's senior year? Well I could ask Zane Trace's new coach...his daughter is a senior this year too.

Best of luck to him and the Cavs.
