Athletic booster clubs will have to conduct more fund-raising efforts make up for any shortfall in funding.

If the poor schools in southeastern Ohio can make it work, I'm sure the suburban schools around Columbus will find a way to make it work. They still have far more resources than does any school in southeastern Ohio.

What amazes me is that, several years ago, the Ohio Supreme Court ruled that funding schools mostly by tax levies was unconstitutional due to the inequality of funding between schools and/or school districts, but NOTHING has been done to correct the situation!

Wealthy districts easily pass tax levies cuz they ask for less $$ per $100K of property appraisal, since there is more property , of higher value, than in poorer districts, and it's less of a dent in wealthier peoples' wallets. This leads to inequality in poorer districts where the voters generally reject most new taxes.

'Tis time for the court to muster up the testosterone to try to get its ruling enforced!

Kids will be allowed to transfer and play immediately.
Westfall should once again reap the benefits. Teays Valley kids will be on the move.

It is sad that the BOE, Supt and Treasure is holding the kids hostage by linking raising taxes in the economic climate.
The voters of the district should remember this and vote them out and not renew the contracts of the Supt and Treasure.

Is it fair for the kids of Teays Valley to be punished because the powers of TV can think outside the box?

I also find it humerous that ending sports is the first thing on the block. How about pay freezes for administrators? How about Pay reductions?
Also do they not understand how far back economically it hurts the district? Ask Chillicothe? SW city schools. Kids leave and take their state funding with them.

Schools forget how important sports are to communities. When you cut them or threaten to cut them you only make people mad. Those kid that play just transfer and take funds with them which puts more hardship on the schools. Should have kept HB 5 oh wait then the teachers would have to actually work to earn their pay and it would have cost them a little money. I'm saying when more funds are lost some of them will lose their jobs from cuts.

This is however what I was saying that the elimination of sports would hurt the district for years to come. Kids will leave and many will not return. Lost of income that will not be recouped. Admin needs to rethink this avenue.

The board is goingto look under rocks to try and find the money to have sports next year....correct me if i'm wrong but if your school doesnt offer sports [grove city rule] goes into effect. You can go to a school that does without having to sit out a year.atleast thats how it's been explained to me...not recruiting just trying to find options for my boy to play ball.....

If your school doesnt offer sports you can in fact transfer without having to sit out.
However you have to have played that sport at your old school.
Ex. If you played FB and baseball only at old school you would not be eligible to play basketball or track at the new school until you have been at the new school one year.
