Re: UFC on FOX: Velasquez vs Dos Santos
Predictions:
Prelims:
Rosa Decision
Pierce Decision. Mike is going the wrong way, I want him to drop to Lightweight but instead he went to Middleweight
Escovedo 1st Round Submission
Semerzier 3rd Round Submission
Yamamoto Decision
Johnson Decision
Swanson 3rd Round Submission
Poirier 2nd Round TKO
Henderson 3rd Round Submission
Main Event:
I really have no idea. I like Dos Santos more but Velasquez has ran through everyone and improves by leaps and bounds in between every fight
I guess Dos Santos Decision in a classic
Fight of the Night:

Sub of the Night:

Re: UFC on FOX: Velasquez vs Dos Santos
FOX does a great job of cross-promoting ALL of their programs. When they have an event they make sure you know about it. The UFC on FOX promotion began immediately after the deal was announced. They do multiple in-game promos, commercials and so forth. Velasquez was on the FOX pre-game show with Terry, Howie, etc. this past Sunday at the tail-end. And this also marked the first UFC on FOX Primetime (Zuffa's answer to 24/7. Not their typical Countdown show). It was a big thing to have Joe Buck open the show with a rundown of the UFC, it's fighters and this fight.The_Legend_of_Northwest wrote:The UFC brass is hoping for 20 million viewers. By chance, where did you hear about Zuffa wanting 20million viewers for the first show? That's a pretty lofty expectation. Just curious of the source.

I doubt I can find the source now, but after the deal was announced I believe Dana said something along those lines. Now he probably changed the expectations since because he loves to flip flop. Also now that I think about it, I think he said something along the lines of hoping for 20 mil instead of expecting 20 mil.ACCBiggz wrote:The_Legend_of_Northwest wrote: By chance, where did you hear about Zuffa wanting 20million viewers for the first show? Re: UFC on FOX: Velasquez vs Dos Santos
I think optimistically I would put money on 7-8 million peak for the show. Although if it reaches 10 I wouldn't be shocked. But World Series on FOX, up until the final two games, was only in the 11 million range. And as much as baseball has fallen I stick think the World Series will trump the UFC, lol. So, yeah, I'm looking at 7-8 for my prediction.

Re: UFC on FOX: Velasquez vs Dos Santos
Results:
Rosa Decision (1-0)
Pierce Decision (2-0)
Caceres Decision. Shocked here I thought Escovedo's experience alone would win him this fight (2-1)
Peralta 3rd Round TKO (2-2)
Uyenoyama Decision. Another fight I'm shocked about (2-3)
Johnson 1st Round TKO (3-3)
Lamas 3rd Round Submission. Bad pick on my part (3-4)
Poirier 2nd Round Submission. (4-4)
Henderson Decision. (5-4)
Main Event:
Dos Santos 1st Round KO. 1:04 seconds. (6-4)
Not what the UFC wanted at all. All the build up for 1 minute of action, none of the prelims were aired so that was all any new viewer was able to see. If it was a regular card then it was fine, but since it was the only televised fight it was slightly disappointing.
