I think Logan should only be excited enough to blow their horn only if they can win more than a first round playoff game....When you beat schools that aren't 1/4th the size of you...are you really amazed that you can do that...I hope not...Ironton has always prided themselves on playing bigger competition and getting better throughout the regular season...and then being competitive in the playoffs...usually winning most of their games.

Logan to me...seems to pride themselves on beating schools that are much smaller than them and then getting crushed when it comes to what really should matter

So your saying it's Logan's fault that they can grow and the rest of the SEOAL can't? Get real...I guess playing Ironton just doesn't provide the competition to prepare the Chiefs for the playoffs either does it? If Ironton was so great..SURELY they could at least stay CLOSE during the game couldn't they??? We can't help playing who we play..it's our league..look at the non league games..teams that are in Division 1 or Division 2..same amount of kids..and the Chiefs beat them too..is that not correct? And ummm..Logan got out of the 1st round last year there guy :122249 Finishing 3rd in last years R7 is NOTHING to be ashamed of. Was probably the toughest region there was all around. If your so 'great' with just a handful of the kids..why haven't you beat Logan recently? Ironton has a great program..no doubt..but to say Logan should be ashamed of there success is just idiotic. Especially when they don't have much control over there competition unless they want to leave the league and go independent.

Ironton fans and every other teams fans in the league needs to stop talking about Logan being to big. Having them in the league give the league a lot of respect. All of the other schools just need to get better, work harder, and thrive to win the conference like Logan does. They have a strong tradition as does other teams in the conference. Give credit where credit is due, and credit is due to the program that Logan has built. We at Portsmouth have had some great runs in the past. Over time they will have another run and another run. But, we are not going to down play another great program to try and make excuse for our down time. It's not Logan's greatness that's our problem it's ours. We just need to keep working hard, lifting hard, and playing hard and we will eventually compete for a league title.

Big Time is 100% correct........we have had good teams at Portsmouth, and will have good teams again.......that can challenge for the SEOAL title, regardless of how big Logan is.......we have had teams in the past decade that could beat Logan......it's just that right now we have been in a down period........

The biggest challenge for Portsmouth in the SEOAL is to be consistently competitive.........we have the athletes to win the league from time to time, but can we be in the upper half most of the time? That will be difficult to do, but like Big Time says, we just need to work harder.........and just maybe that elusive consistency will come our way.

So many times in sports you are what you put into it..........if you spend the time to get better, sweat to get better, and are determined to get better.........you will get better........whether you're Portsmouth, Logan, or anybody else.

not to change the subject but, it does tie into passion and pride of the communities in se ohio.
i had family over a few years ago when logan & i-town played the last season game on the hilltop and again the past weekend. we where talking about hs sports and they said we'all in se ohio where hs football crazy   . they are from indiana. and we all know football is not to big there. i was telling them about logans new field and about some of the fields around se ohio and how the athletic programs where biulding multi millions dollar stadiums with turf fields that seat 8,000 to 10,000 ppl, how some rivial the size of some small colleges and the some of the tradition some program in the area have. they like the way the communities around here follow and support the schools and the outstanding pride us fan have in our programs, they don't have this kind of support in there area and wish they did. so, just wanted to tell that story. ;-)

I agree...I think that southern ohio football is great and that Logan should be proud of what they are doing in the regular season...only that being that size of a school...and playing the smaller schools isn't helping them out at all come playoff time...usually they will have two or three games a year that really give them any competition...and when you are going up against the division two talent in the playoffs...that's not good enough...I think they have a much better team than what they end up showing the state when the season is finished...Ironton has always played either great teams...or larger schools....usually it works to make them better...come playoff time...and I just feel that the playoffs...and going to the big dance are what you are wanting...the SEOAL trophy is nice...don't get me wrong...but I don't care how many of those you have in your trophy case...I would put one State Championship trophy any day up against fifty strait SEOAL trophies...anyone agree?...and that isn't meant to slam the Logan program...they are moving in the right direction...but I think they need to be more experienced come playoff time.

I do agree..but..as it's been said a thousand times before..what do you suggest Logan do? In reality..what options do they have? They have one choice for a league..and that's the league they are in now..it would be dumb to become an independent..so Logan really doesn't have a choice with the competition other than to hope the other teams in the league can be more competitive every year.

Football in most of SE Ohio has great pride and tradition..very passionate fans..but man..you think it's bad there? You ain't seen nothing! I thought the same thing until I moved to NE Ohio. You wanna see passion? Come up here during the Mckinley/Massillon week...it's just freakin' CRAZY! Lol

I can agree to a point but Logan is a member in good standing in the SEOAL. They shouldn't be ashamed or apologize for winning the league or for dominating it the last few years. That would belittle the kid's efforts and I don't believe in that. Does competing against larger schools guarantee post-season success?
