Don't look now, but the Reds have won 3 of 4 after taking two of three from San Fran. . .

Any thoughts on the series against the Cards?

The latest ...

Cincinnati Reds starting pitchers Bronson Arroyo and Aaron Harang have supposedly cleared waivers, according to the Cincinnati Enquirer, making the way for either one to be dealt in a trade.

Reds GM Walt Jocketty wouldn't confirm it, telling the paper that that is "confidential information." But he does say that the team isn't trying to shed salary.

Both pitchers are under contract for next season and it is believed that the Reds would have to pay some of the $12.5 million owed to the 31-year-old Harang (6-13) next year and the $11 million owed 32-year-old Arroyo (10-11) next year if a deal were made.

Reds get the dreaded "player to be named" as well as the 2 hotdogs, pretzel and soft drink plus a Bernie Brewer bobblehead.

You know, I'd love to say "They both suck! Throw 'em outta town!" but the sad truth is that EVERYONE on the Cincinnati team plays bad after the All-Star break. . . not just those two. Arroyo could possibly end up with 15 or so wins this year and Harang could end up with over 10. Cueto (unless he's injured for an extended amount of time) should end up with well over 10 wins since he's sitting at 8 now. The bullpen has been pretty good. Just no pop in the batter's box and too much inconsistency in the rotation.

Marty mentioned two weeks ago that he expected one or the other gone (herang or arroyo)
within the next 3 weeks.

Said he thought both would be gone if not for Volquez's injury.

The whole team is terrible. . . even Votto is bad now. It's after the all-star break.

I hope Walter Jockety (or however you spell it) does for the Reds what he did for St. Louis. I get tired of hearing St. Louis is the best baseball town in America. Ever been to a Reds game when they were winning regularly? The fans are just as passionate (and knowledgable) as in St. Louis but when you're beaten down for so long, it's no wonder the interest and attendance wanes. If the Cardinals finished last or close to last every year for a decade or more, a lot of their fans would lose their "passion." I really do respect the Cardinals organization. St. Louis isn't much a different sized market than Cincinnati so spare me that. New York and Boston (and LA) can just go out and buy fixes to their needs year in-and-out. St. Louis does it right without breaking the bank. I think the malaise that has been in the Bengals front office has drifted through the windows at Great American Ballpark.

They remind me of a young Little league team. They get some loses and give up quick. It seems like every season is the same story. Leadership is what they need. Leadership and discipline. Rolen should be able to provide some of that with his experience. Is it really the players or coaches fault, I do not know. And eventhough they are getting paid ig bucks to "play" a game, it has to be hard to go out and play in a city where fans rarely show up to back the team. If it were not for the distance, I would be at the majority of the games.

Hard to watch for a city and program with as much history as the Redlegs.

One down, one to go.

The Reds sent Gonzalez to the BoSox for a minor league infielder.
