I will put my 2 cents worth in.Take it slow look at jackson size then NY.NY the smallest school in the ohio would be a true mismatch across the board EXCEPT FOOTBALL . BUT WHEN you have 30-40 more Kids on a team than the other fellas advantage big school.NY fought the odds for years with logan. Jackson needs to stay where they are at and take the beating the PURPLE GANG UP 33 GIVES THEM.

For what it's worth, Jackson will be dropping back down to D3 according to the latest OHSAA enrollment figures. Athens now has 62 more boys than Jackson and Vinton County has only 5 less, so it's not like Jackson is some kind of mammoth school, population-wise. Last year Jackson had 45 kids playing football in grades 9-12. Despite being a D2 school, the numbers were way down, so I'm doubting if Jackson had a 30-40 kid advantage on anyone.

As far as Logan giving Jackson a beating, that may be true for last year, but the Jackson-Logan series is very closely contested. More often than not, the two schools are very competitive with one another, and it is a rare occasion to see a lopsided result in either team's favor. With what Logan has coming back this year, I'm afraid that the results for this season will be similar to last year, but that's definitely the exception to the rule in the overall series.

I've noticed that the Nelsonville-York fans are quite confident about how they have fared against Jackson. They did have a blow-out victory against Jackson in 1994. I believe that was when the Gail brothers played at NY, one of the Buckeyes' best teams ever. Jackson did go 8-2 that year, with its only other loss being to Logan by a 27-13 score. Anyway, that is NY's only win against Jackson. The Ironmen are 5-1 against Nelsonville-York and 37-5 against Nelsonville before consolidation occurred. Nelsonville's program has now become one of the most consistent in SE Ohio and depsite the fact that they are smaller than Jackson, I'm sure that they would hold their own on a consistent basis against Jackson.

I don't quite understand why anyone from Jackson would insult the schools in a league that they just applied to, but that's just me. I also don't understand why everyone else feels the need to talk so much trash about a school, such as Jackson, that has been quite successful in one of SE Ohio's premier football leagues. Jackson does need to stay where they are though...I completely agree with that.

Buckeyes vs. Ironmen - Jackson leads all-time series 5 wins, 1 loss

1967 Jackson (A) 14-8
1968 Jackson (H) 14-6
1969 Jackson (A) 40-0

1990 Jackson (H) 21-20
1991 Jackson (A) 44-22
1994 Nelsonville-York (A) 48-7

The first three games were SEOAL league games and the last three games were played with NY as members of the TVC. (H) is noted as NY being the home team/ (A) is noted as NY being the visiting team.
