With Lima Central Catholic being "upset" last night, I see two teams left in the mix that I would call odds on favorites to win it all, Marion Pleasant and Versailles. LCC losing didn't surprise me all that much, there was alot of love shown the Thunderbirds by the NW Ohio media.
Love to see West or Valley win Region 19 and do well in the final four.

West and Lucasville valley can very well make a run in this I was impressed with west they came out and just flat out played.
Re: Statewide D-V Results from 11/4/11
Versailles got beat by Coldwater significantly in the regular season. Kirtland is probably the favorite now, but that doesn't mean anything. Should be an entertaining road to the title...

True - Somehow, I missed Coldwater, I'll attribute that to a lack of coffee. :122245
They will certainly be in the mix. Kirtland as well, out of Region 17.

Coldwater is also a favorite and I wouldn't count out Liberty-Benton, Patrick Henry, Liberty Center or the R19 winner either.Steely Dan wrote:Ashland Crestview 45

Coldwater or Marion Pleasent would be my odds on favorites to win it this year and that has nothing to do with what MP did last night. They just have tons of experience when it comes to winning state titles, as does Coldwater. It wouldn't surprise to me to see either team take the title this year.

Yea, it was a bummer, FOS. I was not surprised though, I thought it was a bad match up for Woodsfield, and it turned out to be so............

Steely Dan,
How did STA look against MC? (aside from the score) I have had a gut feeling the Region 17 Championship will be Kirtland vs STA. I like Coldwater and Marion Pleasant, both. I also like Liberty-Benton. Obviously, I'm hoping for a West-Valley match-up in the Region 19 Title game. I thi k those two teams have a puncher's chance this year...at least as much as I think this area has seen in some time.

Re: Statewide D-V Results from 11/4/11
Jesco - My understanding is that for the players that started out on the field, they were very evenly matched. It was 7-6 at halftime and 14-6 halfway through the third quarter, then the lack of depth and playing a spread offense caught up with MC (they just ran out of gas). Four straight turnovers and scores for STA killed the Nole's chances. STA has a pretty nice QB and a good RB, they look to run first, and throw to keep you honest. Nothing fancy.
I think in Region 17, it is going to come down to Columbiana Crestview and Kirtland, which should be one heck of a match up. Both have played tough schedules, and Columbiana'a one loss was by 3 points to St. Clairsville. I'm favoring Kirtland to win the region.
As for Regions 18 and 20, Liberty Benton or Liberty Center for 18, but I like Benton to win, and I'm going with Coldwater in Region 20, in a really close contest with Pleasant.

I forgot all about Liberty Center. I knew I was leaving someone out. I agree with you on Region 18 and I also agree on Regions 17 and 20.

My picks are Patrick Henry and Coldwater. But, this could be the year where one of our teams (Valley or West) pull it off!!! How fantastic would that be for this area?
