Week 9 PVC: Buckeye Trail (1-7) @ River (4-4)
Week 9 PVC: Buckeye Trail (1-7) @ River (4-4)
big game for Pilots, but they'll need help to get in playoffs. looks like running Sapp (like I've mentioned time and again) is the key to River's success.
i just can't figure out what's happened to Trail's sports. haven't been much in football for about 5 years.

Pilots should win out, but this may be the year of what could have been as far as playoffs go. Drew Patuer only gives River 4% chance of making it. Not many second level points to be had these last two weeks. Even Eitel hasnt been able to figure out Reg.23 on his site! I have no idea what scenerios would have to play out in order for River to stay at #8. Anyone have any ideas???

Wondering had Coach Flannery made a QB switch sometime during the 3 game scoreless streak if this would be an issue.

Pilots win, but closer than what most would think. I'll go with 12 points.

Trail never really was a football school. Every 10 to 12 years they might have a two year run, but thats it. Plus they are playing a schedule way above their heads.

Looks like our preseason predictions were right on the money PF1. These boys didnt know how to play in and win close games at the beginning of the year. They had never experienced it. Someone needs to emerge as the leader of this team before games start next year. Thats one thing we have been lacking all year. Next years success is going to depend alot on a couple of underclassmen who are going to have to step up on the O-line. All the skill players return exept for Mconn. I think Stewart, Asturi, and Sapp will make a potent backfield and the defense should only be better. Its been a heck of a ride this year, hopefully next year will go a little smoother!!

I was puzzled by The Warriors when they played Fort Frye, too. They seem to have some pretty good athletes on the field, but execution was just not there.selonmc wrote:surfsider wrote:big game for Pilots, but they'll need help to get in playoffs. looks like running Sapp (like I've mentioned time and again) is the key to River's success.

I could be wrong but I would say outgoing senior McConn will get the bulk of the carries these last two games against a couple of softer defenses. Sapp will get his chance in 2012, and should have a huge year if the line gels early.surfsider wrote:big game for Pilots, but they'll need help to get in playoffs. looks like running Sapp (like I've mentioned time and again) is the key to River's success.

good call on McConn getting the carries. he's had a pretty decent h.s. career. Sapp will be the man in '12. I wonder if his dad was a player at Paden City?
maybe the cards will roll right these last 2 weeks and River sneaks in.

If they win out River should finish second in the PVC & possibly third in OVAC 2-A behind Wheeling Central & Linsly, who are both undefeated right now. Not bad for a team that most on here predicted to be near the bottom.pilotfan1 wrote:Probably not with everything that is needed, but still will be a successful year. Re: Week 9 PVC: Buckeye Trail (1-7) @ River (4-4)
that would be quite an accomplishment. too bad coach Frye couldn't be nominated for OVAC coach-of-the-year.
i'm not counting them out of a playoff spot. just a quick glance at their upcoming opponents and i wouldn't rule out River sliding in there at 8th.

Coach Frye has made such a difference to this team in alot of ways, not just defense. River fans and team can be thankful he is committed to at least one more year from what I have heard.surfsider wrote:that would be quite an accomplishment. too bad coach Frye couldn't be nominated for OVAC coach-of-the-year.

.
Granville has owned NC the last three years(112-0)combined score.
Granville is a lot better this year then they were last and NC is much weaker. I have it 48-0 Granville
A former player called me earlier today and he said,56-0 Granville.

Heard the benches were cleared in this game, it's really such ashamed.

Yes tempers flared and the benches cleared, wasnt much of a brawl though. A few punches thrown. From what I heard at least one River player could of been ejected, but the Trail coach didnt push it.

Thanks for clearing that up PF1, good solution for everyone. How much did the playoff scenerio change for River after yesterday?pilotfan1 wrote:River had two kids tossed, and one Trail. Coaches/Refs agreed to not officially kick them out and instead gave River 2 PFs, 1 for Trail, and have the 3 kids sit the rest of the game.
And a "brawl" is a tad bit of an exaggeration.
Re: Week 9 PVC: Buckeye Trail (1-7) @ River (4-4)
Anybody know who or what caused the bench clearing incident?
