i see the 1 on1 more at the end of a game when you expect your stars to shine. the rockets played some great defense as well as the heat in the games they won. you have to remember, these athletes today are in much better shape from a physical and athletic standpoint so that in turn makes defenses look worse than what they really are. dont get me wrong, there is some bad defenseas there always will be. notice i didnt say smarter, they just get by, by being better athletes. there was nobody smarter than a magic johnson or a larry bird who always tried to get their teammates involved. plus the game is played more above-the-rim today than in the eighties. i also think the officials treat the players different in regards to who gets calls and how much contact it takes to draw a foul depending on the player.

I like OSU and I thought Oden would be good. I don't see anything wrong with pointing out that he's constantly hurt.

Two years? Still not enough. If he gets worse, I agree with you, but if he gets slightly better, then he has to be given another year.

Jermaine O' Neal was terrible in Portland and then turned into an All-Star in Indiana.

Actually, it will be his second...Mr. Oden was a rookie this season...He sat out his first year of his contract due to injury, therefore it will only be his second season.

The fact that Oden hasn't been healthy since high school is the key point in the conversation. He was damaged goods when he got to OSU.
I think he's good kid, but probably won't have the career some of the pundits imagined he would. He just can't seem to stay healthy for long enough periods of time to develop his game.
Still, he's sittin' on a gold mine, so healthy or not, he's set for life financially. Good for him on that note.
