Young, Moss top GAHS defenders in
Blue Devils 10-7 win over Portsmouth


Dallas Moss, 190-pound and 6-1 senior defensive lineman and Drew Young, 180-pound 6-0 senior linebacker were Gallia Academy’s top defensive players in Friday’s 10-7 triumph over the Portsmouth Trojans at Portsmouth in a Southeastern Ohio Athletic League contest.


Both Moss and Young were credited with nine defensive plays apiece. Moss had seven assisted tackles, one tackle for as loss, and one quarterback hurry-up. Young was credited with two solo tackles, one assist, one sack, three tackles for a loss, caused one fumble and had one pass break-up.

Junior defensive lineman Austin Gragg was next with eight defensive plays. Gragg, a 6-0, 250-pounder, had six assists, one sack and one tackle for a loss.

Next was sophomore Tyler Warnimont with seven defensive plays. Warnimont had two solo tackles, two assists, two tackles for a loss and a quarterback hurry-up. Next was junior Justin Bailey who had three solo tackles, two assists, and caused a fumble.

Overall, the Blue Devils had 14 solo tackles, 25 assists, three quarterback hurry-ups, two sacks, eight tackles for a loss, and one fumble recovery, three pass break-ups, and two caused fumbles for a total of 58 defensive plays.
