ESPN had a poll on their main page a couple weeks ago about the lockout. The question was "Do you care if there is an NBA season?" The answers consisted of a simple yes or no and I think over 80% of the nation said no.

if the owners and the nba want more parody then the owners need to stop overspending on players that don't deserve it. Joe Johnson is a good example, payed him a max contract in 2010 and he hasn't produced up to those standards, he played like crap when they got waxed by the magic. i still think there is going to be a season, I can see the players caving in and going 50-50 which is what they should do and maybe next summer take a look at the BRI. and for the whole Kevin Garnett thing that might be true which more than likely it is lol but there was a story that Dan Gilbert and another owner complained that the proposal that was offered wasn't good enough when everyone else agree to it so you never know what really goes on behind closed doors especially when a reliable source hasn't came out and said it

The NBA players who think they are negotiators are a joke. Does any one of them negotiate their own contract or do they use an agent? The ego's of some players gets in the way of real progress. They need to have input but the union has people to negotiate. Just like the saying,"Coaches coach and players play." So as this continues fans will continue to lose interest. Many players are going elsewhere to make money but they do not care of some owners do not make any money. So no NBA games right now.

most if not all nba players have their own agents. I think the players know how to negotiate the owners and players are offering proposals to coming and either side isn't budging. These last three days were the best chance so far to come to a deal but they died down. Now it looks like there won't be games for another 2 months and more then likely longer

I know how to play basketball also but I will not be playing in the NBA. IF the players were so good nogotiators they would be their own agents. Some of these players are taking things to personal and letting things get to them instead of being able to see the big picture. How many of them even have a college degree or a degree that would help in negotiations? Would you want to represent yourself in court or get a good lawyer? Knowing how to do it and being the best person for it is different.

Would the players give back any of their money if teams do not make money?

I don't care about the NBA anymore and haven't for the last 10-15 years. College hoops is just around the corner and it'll be fun to watch and not as costly as watching overpaid pros run, jump and dunk. It's really changed for the worse the last couple decades. I figure the 80% posted earlier is closer to 90% of the people who don't really care but the other 10% will do more than pay their wages eventually. Let them and the owners both lose money, they've surely made enough off the average Joe's over the years and salaries, tickets, etc. continue to climb.

This whole lockout i just getting ridiculous. I've heard somewhere that the average salary for a NBA player is 5 million a year...5 Million a year!!!! That's just average, some of the "super stars" are raking in way more than that. How could someone complain when they're that much money to play a simple sport? Shoot, I'd do it for a tenth of that!

Greed is pretty well corrupting our society. While this is only in the NBA, greed is everywhere. It's most notable in pro sports because of the egos that these players develop.

the owners have given a proposal to the players for up to 51 % if they don't agree then its back down to 47 % and it will stay there ....i think if they don't accept this deal then there will be no season there are talks of decertifying...look if there is up to 51% of revenue then take it I've seen on numerous websites that some of the nba players are wanting to take this deal and play. It looks bad on the players and again being greedy as they always are.

Many players have child support payments to make.

Let 'em decertify. Then open the camps and see who reports. I'll bet we would have basketball real quick.

Deal was rejected by the players today, now taking this whole thing to the courts. Now very unlikely that there will be 2011-2012 season.

That is true. These guys representing (not naming names) are a joke. Half of them can't put sentences together and the end product is always "we want to get back to work". Please give that line a break before we all puke. Playing a kid's game and wanting the public to feel sorry for them won't get it in any of these pro sports much longer. You'll have the big spenders for the most part who'll always be there but the casual fans have already gotten tired of pro baseball and basketball is next. Personally I think the NFL is not nearly as exciting as it was in the past with all the free agency, player's jumping teams every 3 years, etc. With the economy and the average joe's watching their entertainment dollar's nowadays they'd all better watch out or they might have to take real jobs here shortly.

Do the players really understand what they are doing? How many people they are putting out of work due to their greed? The ticket taker, the janitor at the arenas, the food vendors, the parking lots, the merchandise sellers...all because 20 Million a year is NOT enough money to live on?? GIVE ME A FRICKING BREAK!If NBA players played for the LOVE OF THE GAME and NOT LOVE OF MONEY, there would be basketball on right now...FANS REMEMBER, NBA players and owners don't give a !@#$ about you, all they care about is your $$$

Many people care. The NBA to me is the most entertaining sport, full of sub-plots and rivalries, not to mention all of the young talent that is in the league. Is it the purest form of Basketball? No. But it sure is entertaining.
