The Dixie Chicks and Hank is a totally different subject. The Dixie Chicks werent fired for things they said. The radio stations boycotted their music other stations could have played them. Its like if Pepsi put a picture of a plane hitting a building on its cans and it offended people. People would have the right to boycott Pepsi. The Dixie Chicks had a right to be heard on any station that would play their music. While Espn has taken away Hanks right to perform and work because of his words. That is taking away his freedom of speech. I mean you cant play the monday night football theme on thursdays.

How is it different? Fired? Boycott? I see no difference. ESPN hasn't taken his rights away to perform, just the right to perform on ESPN. It is a privilege that ESPN feels he abused by his comments and it is not his right to play on MNF. Hank has the right to play his music on any football show that will have him. Unfortunately, there's only one Monday Night Football.

I thought you'd have a better grasp on the Constitution. What part of the governmental control don't you get? ESPN isn't the government. They have the right to say who is or is not on their network and what they say. Remember Rush Limbaugh being "fired" from MNF for his remarks. Isn't this what happened? ESPN is the private sector and they disciplined Hank Jr. for his statements.

Thats true, but there are safeguards in place inside the federal labor laws that protect a persons right to have a different view from that of their employer especially outside the work area. You can find a loophole if you had enough time, a good enough lawyer, and if he really wanted to fight this he could find a way. You would have to prove discrimination from the company on behalf of his political beliefs or since he is running for Senate in Tenn. he could get them for discouraging him to run because of the firing. There are a few avenues he could go down if he really wanted to bring a case against ESPN.
It might not be a 1st admendment question, but deep down it's a violation of his 1st admendments rights.
