Book a hotel downtown, go to the Pirates game on Friday night and take in what is arguably one of the best ballparks in all baseball. Then, watch the Steelers scrubs play whoever on Saturday night. Drink liberal amounts of Arn City both days. Sober up and drive home Sunday. Wait for September.

I was at PNC Park for the 2-0 loss to the Brew crew last week on tuesday night. Me and my business partner walked up to the gat 30 minutes before the first pitch and we only had to pay $27 a piece for seats in Row S, just to the left side of home plate off the third base line. field level seats for $27. The ticket in Cincy would have cost over $40 and Pittsburgh's ball park is awesome.
I agree with the above statement about August or September. i think the Reds play there in one of those two months. I would change a few things though.
Get you a hotel room and then go down to the market district and eat a pastrami at Primanti brothers. If you want to have an Arncity, that's fine, but after the first one, switch over to Yeungling.
Yes Pittsburghs baseball team is awful, but for the money, it is still a good night out. I think friday nights is dollar dog night.
You win the superbowl and the stanley cup, you are entitled to lose a little in baseball. By the way, did they honor the 79 team this year? That was a special team. My all time favorite Pirate/Red, Dave Parker, played on that team. Was that also the year he gunned down a guy at the plate in the all star game?

Well, Yeungling would be my choice. Why does Tennessee get it and Ohio doesn't? My personal wish list though is to be along first base at Fenway with a cold Sam Adams. I was a big Reds fan once and my fondest memories are of the Reds/Pirates duels in the NL Championship Series but I just can't go there any more. And they don't like me speaking the truth over on the Reds thread.

Senators 8 Pirates 4

Just got back from the game. Great night for baseball. Had dinner in the Hall of Fame club in left field. Sat directly behind homeplate about 15 rows up. Full moon over the city. Perfect weather.

Game started off perfect with Andrew McCrushin hitting another leadoff homerun. His homers are not moonshots, they are lasers. Pirates added 2 more to take a 3-0 lead after one and thought this was going to be a good one.

However, they left the bases loaded in the 2nd for no runs and had 2 on in the 3rd I believe, no runs. When the other pitcher is struggling, you have to take advantage. Pirates left 11 men on base. Delwin Young left 7 runners in scoring position. You can't do that very often in the majors and expect to play everyday.

Lots of hustle from the youngsters, but some mental mistakes as where to be on cutoffs etc.

Ronny Cedeno made 2 outstanding plays at SS that will make the Burgh folks forget Jack if he keeps fielding like that.

Manager John Russell again leaves a pitcher in 2 long. Morton, while giving up zero runs thru 5, was throwing a lot of pitches. Got a runner on in the 6th, should have been a signal to get somebody up in the pen, but no. He gave up a run, still nobody up. Dunn hits a 3 run shot on Morton's 83rd pitch of the game to take the lead and we leave Morton in for 1 more because we got somebody up too late.

Karstens pitched the 7th, gave up 4 when he was left in too long. Bullpen misses Grabow. Coaches are going to need time to find out who is left in the pen and when they can pitch them.

Game should have been a Pirates win.

Saw an interesting shirt at the game. Teenage girl had a Freddy Sanchez jersey on and over his name on the back she had a large piece of black tape with "traded" stenciled on it. She got alot of attention from the folks in our area.

D-backs coming to town for 3 then the Cards for 3. Hope we can at least split the 10 game home stand.

Oh, Reds lost again. Bucs still tied with the Reds for last so at least we are not the only celler dwellers in the NL Central.

LETS GO BUCS!!!

Glad to hear you made it up....Bob and Greg put the whammy on us on the TV side when Greg said (when we were up 3-0) "we need to knock the Washington starter out of the game this inning and Bob said "that sounds good but I'll just settle for a run and add on".And as it turned out the Pirates did load the bases that inning but Young hit into a inning ending dp and the Pirates came away with nothing. And only managed one run the remainder of the game.

No I haven't but I have heard they are good.

Well, we dropped our 7th in a row. Morton threw well through 5 but was pulled when the pitch count got high. Brought somebody in from the pen who was just called up from Indy  and he couldn't hold the lead. :122246

Maybe we can salvage one from the Cards tomorrow before we hit the road.

Ugly first couple of games v the Cards...No secret here the bullpen is killing us....Of all the trades the Morgan/Burnett deal makes less sense everyday.Morgan gave us much more speed in the outfield and Burnett could have given us at least one good lefty out of the pen...After Grabow was traded of course.Dumatrait maybe will fill that void sometime soon...Maybe...

UGH!!!

Bullpen blows the game, again! Zach Duke did everything he could do thru 7. He turned the game over to Capps with the score 3-2 Buccos and Capps blows it. Bucs lose 7-3.

We have 1 lefty in the pen. Capps can't throw anything for a strike except a low 90's fastball and the other team just tees it up.

I have to agree, trading away Burnett and Grabow hurt the pen, at least for this season. I hope there is something coming up or it can be picked up in the off-season to help the bullpen.

Who's the lefty? Veale is hurt again or so they say....I just think they are doing this crap so he can get so called rehab starts at Indy.I dont think Capps intentionally threw at Pujols today....I think the umps are getting way too touchy about that type of stuff.

Veal is the only lefty out of the pen on the 40 man roster. I don't think he is major league material at this time or maybe ever. Needs to stay in Indy as far as I am concerned. With him down in Indy, we have no lefties coming out of the pen. Not good.

I don't think Capps threw at Albert either. Like most of his pitches these days, he can't control where it goes. I think the umps overreacted too.

On to Colorado to face the Rockies and former Pirates skipper Jim Tracey. Hope we can win a game there.

Pirates are 1-9 in August. Man the pumps, we're listing to one side! Save the rum!

RAISE THE JOLLY ROGER!!!

(We haven't said that in a while)

Pirates 7 Rockies 3

Bucs snap the 8 game losing streak and get off the snide. They steal 6 bases, a season high and McCutchin had 3 of them. Glad to see them work the running game.

Russ Ohlendorf gets the win and goes to 10-8. Pirates did not have a pitcher with 10 or more wins last season. Pitching coach Joe Kerrigan has done a good job with the starters. Lets hope he can improve the bullpen as well.

Lets get a winning streak going as the Bucs send Hart to the hill in game 2.

LETS GO BUCS!!!

Good Grief. Rockies 8 Pirates 0

Bucs only get 4 singles in the game after a decent hitting night just 24 hours ago.

At least we had no errors.

Need to bounce back tomorrow and get the win to take 2 out of 3 for the series.

Lets Go Bucs!!!

Double good grief!!!

Rockies 10 Pirates 1

Bucs manage a whopping 3 hits today as they drop 2 of 3 to the Rockies.

On to Chicago to face the Cubs. Hopefully, we can wake up the bats in the Windy City.

LETS GO BUCS!!!

Cubs 17 Pirates 2

Bucs manage to tack on a safety to avoid the shutout. ;-)

At least we had 2 runs on 7 hits. A slight improvement over the Colorado games, but still a debacle no matter how you look at it.

Sorry to hear you watched the whole game. I turned it on in the 7th and went

When the WGN broadcasters are joking around, you know it had to be ugly.

Even though our record doesn't reflect this, we are the worst team in the Majors. The only place to go is up from this point in time. That is, if we have hit the bottom.

Steven Jackson did throw some nice innings, 4 2/3 with zero runs and saved the arms for tomorrow's game.

I saw 10 runs in the second and thought Capps got the start today.

Tomorrow game looks interesting as Duke faces former Pirate Tom Gorzelanny.

Jackson did pitch well today.Russell has waited a couple batters too late to pull pitchers on this road trip.I sure hope "Howdy Doody" aka Neal Huntington knows it's his neck on the line now...Before he traded all the players he had a little wiggle room but it's all on him if this dosen't work now...

Cubs 3 Pirates 1

Zach Duke pitched a geat game. 7 1/3 innings, 3 runs on 9 hits. This guy never gets much run support. His record should be around 13-7 instead of 9-11.

Bucs manage 1 run on 5 hits. Got to get the bats going and take the final game of the series.

I don't think Huntington's neck is on the line at this time with ownership. They are the ones who have pushed to trade away players to stock the farm system with developing players. They got their wish. I say if things don't turn around after 2 more full seasons, then look for heads to roll.

You cant lose if you dont play,right?.. But right now the Pirates cant win for losing.... Today's game was rained out after a near four hour rain delay.I dont think I have even seen a start of a game be delayed that long...
