I miss Lanny. I like Steve Blass and Bob Walk.

Vin is wrong about MLB keeping the Pirates afloat. The Pirates are a cash cow. They make money every year, even though they are paying down their part of the debt on PNC Park.

If you are out of market, XM satelite radio broadcasts all MLB games. They always use the visiting teams broadcast.

Buccos split the first 2 games at home against the Padres.

Hope they come through and get the win today to take the 3 game series.

LETS GO BUCS!!!

Thank God for Pitt! Otherwise this has been a bad sports weekend in the Burgh.Needless to say the Pirates went down again today...Hopefully they can split the four game series with a win tomorrow..Losing 100+ may very well become a reality.Need to get us a Pens thread up soon.I'm thinking of a name for the thread...PM me if you have a idea..

I did not realize that this was one of those wrapup around weekend series, my bad.

Hopefully the Bucs can get a split today.

We'll go with whatever you come up with. Last year for the Igloo as the Console Energy Center (?) is on track for next season.

In a plethera of bad games this year Monday night's had to be the worst. It even passed the Philly meltdown. But, I think there was a game not too long ago that I rated worse than it.But I cant remember it....As Lanny would quote from Hotel California on occasion "Some Dance to Remember Some Dance to Forget".Speaking of forgetting tonight's game was also forgettable.

Since the ship is nearly sunk or at least up to the mast with water  I must say that this entire week has been the worst they have played all year.I was going to vote Monday's game as the worst but along came Tuesday and so on...Barf bags need to be available and women and children need not be put in danger while watching any of the remaining games. All kidding aside it takes a true fan to stick with thier team and I'll never give up on the Pirates... They've been my team since mid season 1987 and will be so forever...

Pirates 3 Dodgers 1

RAISE THE JOLLY ROGER!!! CRACK OPEN THE IRON CITY!!! LOSS STREAK ENDS @ 6!!!

Bullpen comes thru with a good performance. Donnie Veal gets his first major league win.

The thing with the Pirates is that they have to play a perfect game in order to win. Most of the other teams don't.

Dodgers had 2 errors, Pirates none. Bucs got a break on their first batter as McCutchen gets an infield hit off the pitcher's glove and then on the next batter the Dodgers throw a sure double play ball into right field. You have to have breaks like that to win games when you don't have the talent other teams do.

LETS GO BUCS, KEEP THE LOSS COLUMN UNDER 100!

Speaking of lack of talent or be it young inexperienced talent, I find it hard to believe if we kept this team intact that we lose anywhere near 100.I know, Howdy said were weren't breaking up the 27' Yankees, but come on...That's the easy way out..Where do you think we finish if the team stayed intact and injury free for the most part?Doumit is still feeling the effects of missing all of the first half of the season.I say we could be maybe where Houston is, if not better?? Certainly ahead of the Reds...

Probably ahead of the Reds. I hate to admit it because I liked the players they traded, but Morgan was the only one to do better away from the Burgh. I think he was hitting .351 since he became a Nat until his injury. The players we had were not going to win the division as they were. Maybe a mix of old and new could have gained ground faster then what we have now.

Time will tell. I cetainly don't think the players we have now will win a title. There is still alot of work to do. I do think we have a foundation for a winning team on the near future with McCutchin, Jones, Doumit etc. Not sure about others at this time. Some of the minor leaguers need to improve and help out. Next year will be interesting as a .500 season should be a realistic goal.

Back to the Game...

RAISE THE JOLLY ROGER!!!

Bucs 11 Dodgers 1.

Bucs take 3 of 4 from Vin Sculley's darlings and keep them from winning their division in PNC Park.

Adam LaRoche goes 5 for 5 with 2 homers and 6 RBI's in game 4.

Bucs appeared to play this series, at times, like a playoff matchup.

Great comeback on Sunday after Capps blows another save as the Bucs got 4 in the 9th to win game 3.

Disappointed that Russell pulled Duke after 8 2/3 when he gave up a run. What was he doing, saving his arm for the post-season????

Pirates go on the road for 4 at Wrigley and end the season with 3 against the Reds. Hopefully, we can go 4-3 to end the year on an up swing as our road record is the pits. This would also keep us under 100 losses for the year.

LETS GO BUCS!!!

Andy LaRoach torn it up today. He was a triple away from the cycle. He had two home runs one to dead central and one off the left field foul pole.I think he had 5 or 6 rbi's.It will remain to be seen what the future holds for him as well..

Good grief!

End of the 4th and it is Cubs 6-0. Pirates have 2 hits and 3 errors.

I don't know if I can watch this one. I strongly dislike the Cub Nation. Their radio guys are the worst.

Looks like loss #97 is barrelling down the tracks.

Pirates 8 Cubs 2

RAISE THE JOLLY ROGER OVER WRIGLEY!!! TWICE IN 1 DAY!!!

Bucs take the nightcap of the doubleheader sweep as Krastens gives up 2 runs on 5 hits. Doumit has a 4 hit, 4 RBI game. Everybody has a hand in this one.

Bucs close out the 4 game series tomorrow. Hopefully, we can win it and the series.

LETS GO BUCS!!!
