Re: NY Football Trivia - Most points scored for and against
Has NY ALWAYS been a "running" team? It would make sense if that were the case.
Re: NY Football Trivia - Most points scored for and against
Yes, NY is predominantly a running team.

1993 - NY 65 Meigs 7
I was coaching at Meigs then. That was LOTS of fun.

D. Owens,
Is this the game that the Gail that played tailback, was brought back onto the field to return a punt, and did so for a touchdown, after the second teamers had been playing for awhile. I know Coach Chancey and he would never do something like that, however Coach Meade liked to score his points.

1998 was Robey's senior year... it was the year after NY graduated a ton of talented seniors. Robey and company ended up playing the 'Burg again in the playoffs after the 'Burg brought a lot of players back after the '97 game. It was close for a while, but the 'Burg dominated the 2nd half and had no problem scoring 61 after NY scored 41 the year before. The 28-7 game was the Gails' senior year after dominating Coshocton NY had a wakeup call against a talented 'Burg team... wasn't there 2 or 3 DI college players on that 'Burg team?

1. Was the class of '98 3-1 vs. Logan. Got some help from the Gail twins in their freshman year.
2. Help me out, I don't know My guess would be '82 or '83
3. I believe Edwards class of 2008 would be correct anyone else know for sure?

I don't recall. The whole game was a nightmare. Justin Gail had rushed for over 1,000 yards before we played them and he had better than 220 yards IN THE FIRST HALF against us. We were terrible that year, but we weren't good enough to beat that NY team any of the four years that I was at Meigs.

It was very common for the coaches to put the "starting" special teams back on the field due to problems with substitutions on special teams. A lot of JV players already played special teams, but for whatever reason Gail must have come on to return.
