I hope the Jackson fans get to you with more info Locos becuase thats gotta be the smallest Jackson team that I WILL have ever witnessed. Im sure they will be just fine though and beat everyone that they are suppose to and maybe have a surprise or two!

Jackson isn't all that small. Maybe on the defensive line, but I actually think they have a great shot to be VERY competitive. In fact, I would guess they'll be the third best team in the league after Logan and Ironton. Chillicothe and Portsmouth and maybe even Marietta of course will compete for that as well.

LoganLocos......If I can fill in the missing pieces of the schedule here:

Sept. 18 - at Portsmouth

Sept. 25 - Gallia Academy

Oct. 2 - Marietta

Oct. 9 - Ironton

Oct. 16 - at Chillicothe

If there is anything I can assist you with on the Jackson end, please let me know.

The line does look small for jackson, every Jackson line I have ever seen looked like giants. You can expect a lot more speed on the d-line this year with Larry Hall running the defense. He likes tackles and nose to be speedsters that get upfield. Also, with offense Hall will incorporate, speed/quickness needs to be the focus, so a smaller, quicker team would be a good thing

I like your way of thinking. With a new coach and new attitude and scheme i think your right and this could be good for them.

I was looking over the projected lineups and think you'll see significant changes to what is posted. You'll see a few more sophmores especially on D. I will not make the predictions here but with a new coach that I personally heard say that each player will earn spots each week and the majority will play only one way, It will be interesting!
Can't wait! GO IRONMEN!!!!!

I hope Coach Hall does let the boys earn their own spots on the team.
I have heard that McNelly is bringing his son back to Jackson this year
and has already entertained the coach to dinner at his home.
Sounds like Dad is trying to earn spot for his son to me.

Is there any room in that house for a guest? Probably a little cramped.

How fast is the Jackson team, top to bottom?

It seems to be a matter of record that coach Hall likes to play speed-based offense and defense, but will this crew be fast enough yet to fully implement such a system?

I saw Jackson's boys' track team this past spring, and for coach Hall's sake, I hope that there was speed on the baseball team...

Karl -

I have not first hand knowledge of the football teams speed, but I would not use the track team as a reference point. Jackson lacks a full size track and I think it is safe to say that the track program is not a high priority to the Athletic Department, and the kids know it (and in return the results show it).

Jackson's fastest player last year increased greatly through track....and many were on the track team.

The speed is not where we'd like to be for coach Hall's style but the emphasis has been placed on it since he took the reins. I believe with his program that we will see significant improvement this year as well as over the next few years. Hopefully under his tenure we'll have a few more boys come out that could bring some speed that we haven't had. As for McNelly coming back to Jackson I haven't heard that but anythings possible. I believe he'd see more play time at the varsity level in Wellston though.

Ok just for an update clyde grey is not playing this year..Both Ryan Speakman and Nick Dye cannot play because of academics so that throws a few players out. You cant forget Aaron "Bubba" Landrum the way its looking he will probably be the other OT with dye out of the mix now, and with speakman out of the mix Brushart and Gillum should be the guards. Brushart has gotten much faster. Im not sure who to expect at TE this year Jackson really doesnt have a really skilled kid to play there, I look for Haller to end up there.

JacksonI why is the Grey kid not playing? Also, what is the deal with these kids and academics. No offense but is it really that hard to stay eligible for sports? I mean c'mon now really.
