Anderson was always a back up QB at best prior to coming to Cleveland. Baltimore didnt mind letting him go even though Baltimore has never been the QB capital of the NFL themselves. BTW....the list is long of former NFL backup QBs who were in the right place at the right time and got a shot at starting due to injuries, and then in the off season received multiyear contracts WITH ANOTHER TEAM who found out why they had been backups all along. Tommy Maddux come to mind? How about Mitchell in Miami who went to Detroit and bombed?

Then Anderson couldnt even win the starting job coming out of camp in 07, which shows what kind of impression he made on the coaches. He was backup to Charlie Frye, but it took less than one game for Frye to bomb (where is he now?) and Anderson caught lightning in a bottle for about 12 games. If you remember the Browns struggled down the stretch that year, but he already had his numbers.

That there is even a question about who the Browns starting QB should be says more about their lack of confidence in the only starter on the team than it does confidence in Quinn. If the Browns were convinced Quinn is the answer there shouldnt even be a controversy. You know what the old saying is...if you have two QBs then you really have none.

The pattern for success is to be found in Pittsburgh. Offense wins games but defense wins championships. The Browns havent been winning either lately. A strong running game and the ability to stop the run is what it takes for the Browns to get to the next level (which is above the basement).

Crennel (in his second time around on the Browns staff) was supposed to be this defensive guru, just as Marvin Lewis was in Cincinnati. Winning results have yet to be seen by either. Cincy lost Palmer and only won four games. The Patriots lost Brady and won 11. Cleveland won in 2007 because they outscored nearly everyone they played. Last year they struggled to score a single point against anybody.

Excuses just dont cut it anymore.
