I just don't understand the thought that basically Portsmouth is owed the opportunity to be in the SOC. Those that vote have the opportunity to vote. It is a democracy, and for whatever reason you are not wanted, and unless they change the vote to a majority vote, you never will be.

If I was the AD of say Northwest, I wouldn't want you in the league. I don't know how they feel, but they're already committed to 5 conference losses, with most of them being beatdowns. Why would they want 1 more? How can they expect to build a program by getting the crap beat out of them constantly? Say what you want, but it will never happen. Then on the other hand, because they are the biggest school in the SOC, they can't move to the SOC I where they would be competitive for fear that they could become dominate over the much smaller foe. I'm not saying NW votes no, but I could understand why.

why not throw the fighting tigers in there as well, thats a good league, we are even smaller than several school's , play the league schedule, and some big time non conference games, sounds like a plan. i hate the thoughts of being an independant again. i like to see kids play for league honors as well. and win a conference.

Before it is all over, Portsmouth and Ironton will both be in the SOC. That is some great matchups for league titles evey year. West, Burg, Portsmouth and Ironton. Those 4 would be the best teams in the league every year I would think. No one else in the SOC would be Portsmouth or Ironton on a regular basis besides the Burg or West.

I didn't say you bashed individual kids or Portsmouth as a team. I said you bash Portsmouth.

So, you think Ptown Playmaker represents the CITY of Portsmouth, huh?

If you think my tongue-in-cheek asking of AN INDIVIDUAL if he wants to know who voted against THE PORTSMOUTH FOOTBALL TEAM so he could go toilet paper the school is a slam against the City of Portsmouth..... you are a little bent my friend.

I still can't understand how it would benefit anybody in any way to know who voted how, other than to maybe cause hard feelings that are not needed.
In the first place, if it is a silent vote maybe they ALL voted against it...who knows.

My whole idea was to "realign" everything in this league. With the big boys Itown, Burg, Waverly, West, and Ptown in 1 league. Div. 2 would be Northwest, Valley, Oak Hill, Minford, and a Piketon or maybe an OVC school.
Go back and read my post on page 1. The first team that would want something like this is :: Northwest!!
They would actually have a chance to compete under this realignment. Plus they wouldn't have to schedule any of the big teams anymore. It would give them flexibility just like it would give every team in this league.
This was just an idea to start with. I knew it would raise some crazy thoughts and emotions even. But I still think the whole conference would be better and richer if they did it so I thought I'd bring it up. Hey look on the bright side people, at least we just got 2 days closer to the beginning of football season!!! :122249
I do think that Maltese Falcon makes a good point in that it would be hard to have a flexible schedule. But, you could look back at the last 30 years of this league and get a very good idea of who should be playing who. And you could still change maybe 1 game per team every 3 or 4 years or so without going through all the changes you mentioned. Oh well, it's fun to talk about anyway. I wish Portsmouth and Ironton would get a chance to join. I think it would be cool to see those 2 schools and "kids" try to win a conference championship.

Hasn't Portsmouth and Ironton been in a league the last few years where they had a chance to win a conference championship? Not being successful there so far, now you want to give them a shot at the SOC ? What happens if they should not be successful in the SOC for a couple of years...... move to the OVC next and try their hand there ? Then where?
The SOC has been a proud and successful conference for 60 years. Yes, Portsmouth and Ironton are successful programs with storied histories but why do you think the SOC (which has some successful programs of their own) owes them a slot and a shot at their conference championship ?
Hasn't Portsmouth played Chesapeake and South Point in the last few years ? (and perhaps Rock Hill and Fairland.... I don't know about these because I don't follow them that closely). Why aren't you also suggesting that Portsmouth then tell the OVC to "shove it" too? Have they not done all the "great things" for the OVC that they have done for the SOC or what ??
What bothers me more than all this is I wonder why you find it necessary to malign the SOC, and particularly the voting coaches, by saying the reason they won't let Portsmouth in is because the "big city schools mean trouble" and suggesting the SOC coaches think they are a bunch of "thieves" among other things is why they won't vote them in ??? That is ridiculous and those are pretty low accusations to me.
After mulling this all over in my mind for a few days and wondering why you are pushing so hard for Portsmouth and Ironton to get into the SOC, I have arrived at one conclusion:
With your openly expressed hatred for Wheelersburg football and their "arrogant" fans on here in the past you are pushing this "mega-conference" and are desperately seeking SOMEONE to kick their arrogant butts since your team hasn't been too successful at it. :)

2 days and you finally come to a conclusion. Good job
At least I got in your mind "or brain". What's with all this empty space?? And who are these 2 people??

You didn't know this, but I am now a supporter of Wheelersburg football. They have a great tradition and a bunch of good people there. I have been for a couple of years now. Probably gave more to their athletic program in donations than all 3 of you.

I think that anyone who is posting on here who is pro-Portsmouth will agree with me on these few points:

-No one from Portsmouth thinks that they are OWED being in the SOC.

-Wins against certain teams year in and year out are not guaranteed. Losses against West and Burg are evidence and a few years ago I heard that Valley beat them up pretty good in a football scrimmage.

-PHS staff, alums, fans are not adamant and "pushing" for them to be in the SOC. I'm quite sure that they are content in the SEOAL.

I am not even from here. I live in the Burg and support Burg kids and athletics but I did not grow up around here. I have constantly seen evidence of this perception of how PHS fans and kids would be. If that is not the reason why they have not been voted into the SOC, will someone, SOMEONE please explain it to me and help me get it through my thick head why they can't get voted in? I can't understand it.

How many times have they been voted down? 3, 4?

You might note that no one from Portsmouth even STARTED this thread. That might tell you something. It was an "SOC supporter" that for some reason felt the need to malign the SOC and the voting coaches. You and another one or two are perpetuating those "rumors" that are nothing but low down and sad BS to be spreading around.

Answer this question that I posted earlier and then maybe we can talk:

"Heck, two teams in the SOC already play Portsmouth and two others already scrimmage them. Is it the perception that the kids will "be bad" if they are in the conference but not be if they are NOT in the conference?? I don't think so."

In other words, if THAT is the reason, why would FOUR SOC teams play and/or scrimmage them with them NOT in the conference ?? Do you think the SOC folks think the Portsmouth folks would be "more bad" if they were playing them IN THE CONFERENCE ??? What kind of logic is that ??????? Simply goofy !!

Again, if you are going to make those statements.... CITE YOUR SOURCE .
