Pens 5 Maple Leafs 2

Elvis has left the building!

Crosby with 2 powerplay goals and Malkin gets 3 assists. Pens outshot the Leafs 14-2 in the first period and kept relentless pressure in the offensive zone. They improve their record to 3-0 on the road and 4-1 overall in the young season.

Pens continue the 4 game road trip with game 3 against the Senators on Monday.

LETS GO PENS!!!

Pens pretty much toy with the Sens toinght in a 4-1 win.Do you believe that Hartnell got nothing for biting Letang's finger? I guess blood just started pouring out on it's own.Something's wrong there...

Pens 4 Senators 1

"They beat 'em like a rented mule!"

Kennedy with 2 goals (4 on the year) Staal with his 3rd goal in 3 games. Crack open an Iron City for the guys in the trenches!

Pens kill a 5 on 3 late in the 3rd. Pens just wanted this one more than the Sens did.

Pens checking is GREAT! They are throwing checks through the other teams players and really are dishing out the hits. They have not missed a beat since the playoffs ended.

On to Carolina for the 4th game of the 4 game road trip. This is a rematch of last year's conference finals.

I wish I could make the trip down I-77 to Carolina to see this one.

LETS GO PENS!!!

Pens 3 Canes 2

Kunitz with the game winner in the shootout thru the 5 hole on Cam Ward.

"Cam Ward doesn't know whether to cry or wind his watch!"

Seriously, great game by both goal tenders. Fluery had 2 deflections get by him and Ward made several outstanding glove saves, including robbing Bill Guerin of a game winner in the 3rd.

Pens go 4-0 on the road trip and start the season with 5 straight road wins and have a 6-1-0 record for the season.

The road warriors head for home and begin a 5 game homestand this saturday vs Tampa Bay.

MONTREAL (AP) -Ryan O'Reilly scored his first NHL goal 13:47 into the third to help the Colorado Avalanche beat Montreal 3-2 on Thursday night, spoiling the Canadiens' 100th home opener.

Pens 4 Tampa Bay 1

Crack open the Iron City boys!!!

Pittsburgh breaks out the home blue jerseys from the early years and get 4 goals from 4 different players. They beat Tampa's goalie, Niittymaki, like a rented mule!

Pens are off to their second best start in team history with their record now at 7-1-0.

Things to work on, cut down on the number of penalities we are taking.

Fleury was outstanding in the goal as he allowed only 1 goal on a rebound shot off a hard deflection on the powerplay. The Pens had killed off 13 straight powerplays until this goal.

The Pens are 25-4-4 on the regular season (this year and last) since Dan Bylsma took over as coach.

Pens sit in a tie at the top of the standings with da Rangers with 14 points each.

The Blues come to the Igloo on Tuesday.

LETS GO PENS!!!

The only bad news to come out of tonight's game was Sergei Gonchar has an undisclosed hand or arm injury...The key to winning Stanley Cups is having productive 3rd and even 4th lines. And the Pens have that. The only thing were missing is a true enforcer.I wonder if Georges Laraque is availabe? Talk about someone with toughness and skill.Another thing we have to look forward to is the return of Max Talbot...It only going to make the bottom two lines stronger.
