All of them seem to be pretty top-heavy, so I'm going with Alter and 4:16.

I would have to agree with fuzzhead, 4:16.

I don't know which region is strongest, but I do know that if NY was in D 4, R 15, the Buckeyes would have been in the playoffs as the sixth seed, but finished in ninth place in D 5, R 19.

Zane Trace, the sixth seed in R 15, finished with 16.000 points. NY, the ninth place team in R 19, finished with 16.750 points.

So my assumption is that either R 15 is down this year, or R 19 just had a really outstanding year.

I think you're right about 4:15 being down.
Heck, Liberty Union didn't even make the playoffs and they only lost to Amanda 10-16.

All but 1 team in R19 would be 3rd in R15, does this mean they are better? no really, just a huge disparity from top to bottom in R15, which I think will show in the playoffs. 1,2, and 3 should win easily in R15, I'd hate to try to handicap the games in R19.

I feel that D4 is down this year as Mooney is in D3 this year as did many other power houses...I would imagine that alter is still strong this year...and maybe some of the northern teams that we don't hear too much about around here...

The school by the name of Genoa Area..I would love to hear some info on them...I don't think they had a game this season closer than 40 points...however after watching the Amanda game last night...that doesn't always matter..they could have beaten that team 100-0 without having their starters in the whole first half had they wanted to...most junior high teams would have beaten that school...just saying there are a lot of really weak teams in the state...some schools play weak schedules...I guess we will soon find out who is for real...

Looking at their schedule..I see that Genoa only played three schools with winning records...one which was a div 5 school and two div 4 schools..where the D 5 team and one of the D 4 teams made the playoffs...both coming in at 8th place...

Compared to Ironton who went 8-2 and beat six winning teams...two d-5 schools, two D-4 schools, three D-3 and one D-2 team...while two made the playoffs..all but two were on the fence...and the two teams that they lost to...both are ranked high in their regions..

This week will start to separate the Big Boys...and start to tell everyone which teams are for real and which teams have played the cheese cake schedules for a reason...I think that Ironton should know who they are...only playing two schools with a losing record...only one of those went below 7-3..being Russell at 6-4...I just hope Ironton doesn't have any injuries and stays healthy...Go Tigers

I agree the Genoa Area team's margin of victory looks really impressive. I think there are times when that could be a negative. How will that team react when they go to the fourth quarter tied or down? A team that has had a close game or two may be better prepared to win a tight game. Ironton's schedule should have prepared them very well for the playoffs. I believe it is hard to compare regions because the competition level does vary from region to region.

If the weather is not bad, I may go to Martins Ferry Saturday.

i have to agree with R16 - there are some nice teams besides Kettering ALter:

Germantown Valley View
North College Hill
Clinton Massie
Kenton

this is going to be a tough region to win....tho sometimes you get beat up just making it out of the region - and pay for it in the semis or finals!

late,

i too, think region 16 looks the toughest at the top. i'd have to say our region 15, is probably the next toughest.

I think 15 is the weakest of the 4 regions, but that should be good for the Tigers. They will be well rested come week 14 and the semi-finals.

Alter has the best team but its not even close for toughest region. Reg. 13 in Northeast Ohio has the highest point total in level 1 (50.5) in #1 unbeaten Chagrin Falls, who played & beat 4 D-IIs (two are in the play-offs) 3 D-IIIs and 3 D-IV ( one is in the play-offs). #2 Girard was also unbeaten whipping 3 play-off teams. Martins Ferry is pretty good and Akron Manchester beat 2 play-off teams. #5 Cortland Lakeview played 4 play-off teams, 3 who were bigger, Woodridge went 1-1 against play-off teams and Campbell Memorials only 3 losses were against bigger play-off teams. Not a weak sister in the bunch. That is one tough azz region. No other region boasts the depth of ability & competition.

Region 15 is terribly weak. Alter's region is a cakewalk for them. Northwest may be the second strongest.

Paladin -

I wouldn't sell Kenton short in Reg. 16. I don't think they'll beat Alter (I don't think anyone in DIV will), but if anyone has a shot it will be Maty Mauk. They may still be a year away, but their style of play could give them a shot in any big game.

I don't know much about the teams Genoa Area has played, but they have 6 shut outs and have not allowed two touchdowns in a single game.

With that said, Alter is the team to beat in DIV.

Locos

Kenton won't beat Alter. They are too young. And, YSU has a former Kenton QB ( Dailyn Campbell) who is a bust. They run a system O that can be defensed. If they win, they would meet Alter in the Regional Champ. game. Alter is very good and should pound Kenton.

Genoa is a fraud , playing a D-V schedule with some D-IVs. Their opponents had 7 losers among them including 2 teams who were 0 for 10. Don't see them winning the region.

NEO region is very tough with the SEO weak again. Alter should march to another title. Like to see the NEO regional champ vs Alter. That would be a very good game.

not so fast, do not overlook ironton. they have the goods this year. and have played a very tough schedule. and have vast playoff knowledge, and a hall of fame coach. this is our specialty, getting to the playoffs and advancing.

I like Regional Champs as Chagrin Falls, Orrville, Alter & Amanda.

Looking at everyone in the state...I have heard that Alter lost a lot off their team that won the state last year and Genoa Area..who came in second place last year really seems to be the one that scares me....They played nearly the same schedule last year...their teams that they played have a better record this year and they beat them worse this year than last....Just looks like they could be for real...although their schedule is mostly a div 5 schedule...I think Ironton does have what it takes...which is a good defense and a potent offense...but when it gets to the semis it takes a lot of luck for any team to win..unless they are much better than the other...and a quality coach..which we have...
