me as well this program went down hill quick,i say there will be new leadership next year.im just going to say this and iknow people wont agree but amyx would take this team and go 6-4 or maybe 7-3 with solid discipline-just my view.

Very excited for tomorrow night. This is always one of my favorite games on the schedule. It just doesn't get any better than Jackson and Logan doing battle under the Friday Night Lights. These two schools have combined for 46 SEOAL championships (Logan, 25 & Jackson, 21) and they'll start the quest for another league crown tomorrow night. The Ironmen are the defending champs, so the target has been placed on their backs. Logan will be looking to regain the title that it had owned for several years before the Ironmen knocked them off last season.

From a Jackson point of view, our kids need to understand that they're going to get everyone's best shot. Getting to the top of the mounatin last season wasn't easy, but staying on top is even more difficult. They have to bring their "A" game every week, match the opponent's intensity, and defend the title that they worked so hard to earn.

The Ironmen must take care of the football on offense and get a great performance from the offensive line. If the boys up front play well, the skill players will be able to do what they do best...make plays in the open field. Jackson has to win the battle at the line of scrimmage, and it won't be easy. Defensively, the Ironmen need to continue to "play fast". They need to stay aggressive, force Logan into mistakes, and tackle well in space against Logan's athletes.

The road to another SEOAL championship starts tomorrow night at Logan Chieftain Stadium. Get it done, Ironmen!

Watched the freshman tonight and it is still the same thing over and over

Linemen can't get to the ball carrier LBs are getting blocked too soon and DBs are too close to the line and runners are getting too much speed up and get by them and gone.

Tonight it was hold them then give up the big play---the O was get a big play and then nothing

Bear Bryant isn't coaching Alabama, Woody ain't taking the field with the Buckeyes and Amyx is fishing on Friday nights. So let's deal with what "is" for Logan football. And lets realize that Logan has no lock on league titles or undefeated seasons in perpetuity. Logan is in a cycle right now that is trending toward breakeven status. No offense but this isn't the same crop of kids that came up together and meshed as a unit of athletes as was the case a couple of years ago. Again, no offense but there are no all-state athletes with ability to break games against great competition. So let's not be too critical of coaching or players. They have to find their own identity and purpose. They should do well against league competition but that doesn't mean they will dominate the league. Heart and character are what is more important than wins and titles right now. Logan has a certain pride and I have no doubt these players will give a good accounting of themselves. Win or lose, they are your Chieftains, Logan.

Dazed, I petty much agree with you but we should at least be competive and improve from our mistakes! Yes I understand we will not go 10-0 or even 6-4 but the lack of detail and discipline and commitment to the end is what bothers me. Now that the tough part of the season is over, lets hope for improvment!

I'll say this; it seems fundamental discipline is lacking but many of these kids didn't play a down of varsity ball before this year. My biggest problem is the kids don't seem to be coming into the system as prepared in fundamental football as in year's past. The feeder programs do that for you and for whatever reason, most kids don't seem to be going through these programs anymore. A lot of Logan fans want to bang on Ironton but I imagine more of their kids go through these types of programs. You can't wait until a kid gets in high school to drill the fundamentals into him. He needs football 101 before that. And you can't get that from rec league football. JMHO.

I'll hold off on this , but will say many folks I still talk to down there expect Logan to play with Jackson. Lets see how the game goes. Everyone knew the risks of playing the tougher non-league sked. I think what has many concerned is the lack of fundamentals and discipline. I'm told they are big enough to run the football and have the talent to do that. There seems to be a concensus that we are good enough to throw it too. Logan should not be a laggard in the league. While winning it isn't always possible, being competitive is. That is where if it doesn't improve the pitchforks are going to come out. In the end, there are no excuses.

Good point Dazed! I didn't know alot of kids were not going through the feeders right now,I've always believed those were important to the consistent success of a program, with that being said I saw on TV last night there is legislation being proposed to ban kids under the age of 14 from playing collision sports nationwide because they say the kids heads are too vulnerable at that age to injury,,that would mean a kid wouldn't be able to play tackle football until his freshman year, that would at least level the playing field out......

Im traveling and on my iPhone - so I will be brief.

Once again Paladin has hit the nail on the head. Im certainly reserving ANY judgement until after I've seen this team against more realistic opposition.

Am I disappointed in the start to this season? Of course. You play to win the game! However, I know that the only people more disappointed than me are the kids and the coaches. I LOVE Logan football - it is a gigantic part of my life. I drive from Hilliard every Friday to follow this program. It is my passion.

But I respect Coach Wolfe - I know he wants to win, and I want him to succeed. But we all know that losing football games is bad, but not competing and not improving is unacceptable.

I believe this football team will compete tonight. I believe this football team can compete the rest of the way - but if I'm wrong it will be fair to start examining "the state of Logan football."

Let's all hope for the best tonight, I will be happy if the kids compete hard limit the mistakes and show marked improvment and of course a win would be icing on the cake!

Logan had 1st posession of the ball and turned it over to Jackson. Jackson fumbled their 1st. posession and Logan took over. TD Logan. Extra kick good. Come on Ironmen, lets go.
