Cleveland Browns' Brady Quinn on IR for season

Associated PressBrady QuinnBEREA, Ohio -- Browns quarterback Brady Quinn has been placed on injured reserve with a right foot injury sustained on his 24-yard run at the end of Sunday's 41-34 victory over Kansas City and will be lost for the season.
"It's going to take a little while (to heal),'' said coach Eric Mangini.

He said he's not yet certain if he'll undergo surgery.

Derek Anderson will start Sunday against the Raiders. Brett Ratliff will be the No. 2 and Josh Cribbs will be the No. 3.

Quinn went 2-7 as a starter this season, and is the NFL's 26th ranked quarterback with a 67.2 rating. Anderson went 1-4 this season with a dismal 36.2 rating.

It's the second straight season Quinn will finish the season in IR. "He's done a lot of good things,'' said Mangini. "I think the no-huddle helped him and helped us.''

With Anderson starting, it sets up a possible intriguing matchup against former Browns QB Charlie Frye, who started for the Raiders last week, but left with a concussion. His status for Sunday has not been determined.

What a franchise! How do you say "Snake Bit?" Quinn isn't the answer, Anderson never was the answer. Might as well start Cribbs at QB. At least he can generate some excitement.

That makes 2 years in a row for him being hurt and missing the end of the season. A QB is no good if he has to miss games every season.
Anderson is out to show other teams what he can do if they want to trade.

Ratliff did have a good preseason. They could play him with Cribbs to open up their offense. They were able to run the ball against KC.

Watch anderson return to the form when he won 10 games . He does have an arm.

With Anderson you have a better chance than with Quinn.

Anderson has the tools to be a good QB but is not a starting QB. He couldn't even start much in college. He does not have consistentcy in his play. I would play Ratliff some to see what he can do.

Well, it worked pretty good in New England a few years ago. Seriously, Holmgren will play the part of diligent listener to Mangini and company at the end of the season but in the end he will clean house and bring in his own people. I doubt that includes anyone from Bill Belichick's coaching tree. I'd hope he would keep Ryan on as defensive coordinator. The guy has got something. He has to to get effort from his depleted and talent-less group of players. But Holmgren likes a 4-3 defense so it looks like we'll be changing schemes again. And that's the problem with starting over with someone new, even if they are promising. You set yourself back again for three years. Welcome to 4-12 football through 2012!
