Astros outscored us 19-8.

Now we get to play the Brewers who toasted us 36-1.

I am affaird the losing streak will expand from 6 to 9 games.

Our only hope is tonights game as Zach Duke takes the hill for the Bucs.

Brewers 17 Pirates 3

Bucs 22nd straight lose in Milwaukee! They have dropped 7 in a row.

Duke gets hit for 8 runs in 4 innings but we have 2 relief pitchers that give up 9 runs in the 8th??? For the love of Bob Prince, somebody sign some pitchers that aren't throwing batting practice to the other team.

I know I shouldn't do this but I will watch the game tonight. Thankfully, Belpre is no longer a dry town. This may require more legal adult beverages than normal just to sit through the broadcast.

I think we made a big mistake in not signing a veteran starting pitcher in the off season. The bullpen has a nice mix of vets and youth. The starting corps however does not.Maybe they were shy'd away by another Matt Morris senario, but surely they could have found someone.I was in complete shock watching the game last night. It's almost like the Brewers know what pitch is coming. It was plain awful!

Pirates 7 Brewers 3

Losing streak snapped! Quality start by Karstens who went 6 2/3 and gave up 2. He should have not been sent out for the 7th in my opinion.

Trevor Hoffman for the Brewers is touched up by the Bucs for 5 in the 9th. Cedeno for a solo homer and Doumit with the grand slam winner!

RAISE THE JOLLY ROGER AND FLY IT HIGH AND PROUD!!!

Captain Geena Davis has ordered an extra ration of rum for those who have hung in there during the losing streak. Drink up me hardies, yo-ho!

I still think we need at least one experienced starter. When did they option Raynor out? Somehow I missed that.. He was a rule 5- I hope we dont have to give him back to his original team...

He was designated for assignment on Tuesday. My guess is that he will go to Indy to get playing time.

Just got done watching today's replay of the game. Alot of good stuff. LaRoche and McCutchen go back to back yard in the first. McCutchen goes yard again later in the game. Doumit goes yard in the 9th to tie it. Jones with the game winning double in the 15th. Maholm gives a quality start with 7 strong innings. Milledge throws out Edmonds in the bottom of the 10th as Doumit blocks the plate.

Say hey, we won a series in Milwaukee. I don't think this has ever happened since Miller Park opened up!

You have to feel for the Brewers Trevor Hoffman. 594 career saves and he blew 2 against us. I don't know who the Brewers might have to close out games but it looks like he is at the end of a fine career.

On to Mannywood! Will Manny be playing or is he still hurt? He was sent back to LA and didn't finish out the road trip to NY.

Pirates 2 Dodgers 0

RAISE THE JOLLY ROGER!!! 3 in a row for the Bucs.

Burress gives us a quality start over the slumping Dodgers and the bullpen comes on to finish the job.

Buccos send Morton, 0-4 with a 16+ ERA on the hill tonight. This could be his last start as I think they will send him down to Indy if he doesn't do well, which I don't think he will.

Anyway, LETS GO BUCS!!!

Dodgers 6 Pirates 2

Morton took the loss (0-5) but didn't pitch badly, which is an improvement. 6 innings, 6 runs but only 3 were earned, 6 hits, 8 Ks and 2 walks. 19 of his 28 first pitches were for strikes. Maybe he will come around.

Duke takes the hill today. Hopefully, he will get some run support and the Bucs can take game 3 of the 4 game series.

Bucs drop another one to the Dodgers.

Terrible road trip. I think we are 3-13 on the road this year.

Cubs, Cards and Reds come calling in a 9 game home stand that starts Tuesday.

And to add to that McCutchen turned his ankle.I didn't watch the game yesterday.I dont miss many Pirates games on tv, but, after the Pens game I wasn't much in the mood to pick the game up in the third or fourth inning.Like you said this could be a do or die homestand.

I like Bobby Crosby at 2nd better than Iwamura. Church has done a good job off the bench as a spot starter. Pearce, if he will wait for pitches at the plate, can put pressure on Clement to perform better at 1st base. Pearce got the start with 3 at bats but only saw 11 pitches and went 0-3 in his first game since his callup. Raynor, rule 5 pickup, had to be sent back to the Marlins since a trade couldn't not be worked out.

Morton gets his first win and has his 2nd quality start in a row. Maybe he is coming around. Evan Meek continues to impress out of the bullpen as he gets 3 outs on 8 pitches in his only inning of work.

Bucs send Burres (1-1) to face Wells (3-0) in the series final. Lets make it an O'Cedar day and get the brooms out and sweep Lou's boys.

LETS GO BUCS!!!

Bucs 11 Cubs 1

RAISE THE JOLLY ROGER!!!

SSSWWWEEEEEEPPP!!! Its O'Cedar day at PNC Park! Every Cub player and coach gets a free O'Cedar broom for their 3 day stay in the 'Burgh!

Send the Cubs and their whiny-arse announcers back to the Windy City!

Captain Geena orders an extra ration of rum for the Bucco faithful.

Next up, the front running Cards come to town for a 3 game weekend set. They will throw Carpenter (4-0) vs Duke (2-3) in game 1.

Cards 4 Pirates 3

Duke pitches well. No earned runs but the defense had 2 errors that allowed 3 unearned runs. Huge Bucs baserunning mistake in the 8th, 3rd base coaches fault, cost them a big inning and the win.

Need to bounce back on saturday. And yes, the Bucs are swinging the bat well.

It was a shame to let that one slip away...It was a comedy of errors of sorts, but still could have been overcome.
