Put a Jolly Roger on both cars of the Duquesne Incline and a round of Iron City for all!

Paul Maholm pitched a gem, 1 run and 7 hits, Dotel gets all 3 outs with the K.

Still, much to work on. RF Milledge and 2nd Crosby run into each other on a popup down the RF line. Got to clean this up.

Doumit almost gets thrown out at the plate in the 8th with the winning run. When you are on 2nd late in the game and are the go ahead run, DO NOT go back to tag up on a deep fly in the gap. Go halfway. Plus, slide into home instead of stepping on the plate. Very easy to turn an ankle and a slide away from the tag improves your chances of being safe.

We will take them as we get them. Buccos are 8-2 vs the Cubs this year and 2 more to go in this 3 game series.

Yes,a long time coming....and it wasn't easy,but they got it done! Mister B, If you go the MLB TV route-there is an adaptor they make that allows you to hook your TV to your computer that way you can watch the games on your TV instead.

Another good starting pitching performance goes to waste as the Bucs can't score any runs. The Cubs sent Ted Lily to the mound and the Buccos have already beat him 3 times this year. You would have thought we could have scored more than 1 run against him.

Need to bounce back in game 3 to take the series and get a winning attitude started on this club.

Bucs get another great starting pitching performance. 1st round pick Brad Lincoln gets his first MLB win going 7 innings, 0 runs, 4 hits, 6 Ks and 1 BB. Hanrahan pitches the 8th on just 9 pitches, 8 for strikes with 2 Ks and retires the side in order while Dotel gets his 16th save.

Bucs are 20-0 when they take a lead into the 7th when their starter gives them 6 innings. Outstanding. Shows you what good pitching can do for you.

Garrett Jones gets the game winning hit in the 8th.

The Bucs have to nearly perfect ball to win and in 2 of the 3 games against the Cubs, they did. Buccos are now 9-3 vs the Cubs this year after going 4-10 last year.

Back to PNC for 4 vs the Phillies. Need to start July off with a win and make it an above .500 month.

Bucs get another nice pitching performance from their starter McCutchen as he goes 5 1/3, 6 hits and 1 run. Bullpen does another great job. Timely hitting and great pitching.

Buccos are 2-0 this year in 1 run games against the Phillies and 2-1 overall.

Bucs get another quality start. This time from Ohlendorf who goes 7, 0 runs on 5 hits for his first win of the season. Bullpen of Hanrahan and Dotel wraps it up. Bucs have now won 4 of the last 5.

Only 5 hits for both teams but the Bucs make the most of theirs. Along with a Phillie error, we manage 2 runs and the win.

Game 3 of 4 tomorrow.

Trade rumors for the Pirates...

Marlins have inquired about closer Dotel. Also, relief pitcher D.J Carrasco appears to be on some teams radar.

The best part of the Bucs is that we are in a position that we do not have to make any trades. If the Bucs do trade Dotel, I think Meek will be given first shot as the closer. Right now, our bullpen is good and to trade anyone, I would look for a more dependable hitter or a better SS than Cedeno.

Trade deadline is July 31st and teams are hurting for bullpen help, especially closers.

Ugly game by the Bucs. Maholm deserved better but he didn't pitch very good.

Maybe Alvarez will start to have some pop in his bat. He still has a long way to go to be a top notch fielding 3rd baseman.

Game 4 today. Need the win to take the series.

RAISE THE JOLLY ROGER!!!

Buccos win the season series against Philly, 4-2.

Bucs score 6 in the 7th to come from 3 back to get the win. Glad to see Russell put a good reliever in so this team can learn to come from behind. Yesterday he put some no-name in and allowed the game to get worse. As this team grows, they need to learn how to pick themselves up off the deck and keep batteling for the win.

Alvarez gets his second homerun in as many days to spark the comeback. Evan Meek, the Pirates lone All-Star, gets the win. Dotel gets the save. I really like our bullpen of Meek, Hanrahan and Dotel. Meek was a rule 5 pickup. Hopefully we will have the good sense to keep Meek and Hanrahan for the long haul. Dotel's age is a drawback. We may deal him to a contender and if we do, maybe we can get some more pop for the lineup. I would prefer a better SS than Cedeno.

On to Houston for 3. Hopefully taking 2 out of 3 in Chicago has got us over the hump of winning on the road.

You could have made an argument for Dotel being the All Star represenative.Yes,on to Houston...A place the Pirates have never played well at...However,with a sweep we can get ourselves out of last place...We can only hope...

Houston gets 5 runs in the first 3 innings and the Bucs only muster 6 hits, 5 of them singles, along with 12 strikeouts to scratch out 2 runs. Poor offensive showing against a very average pitcher.

I hope the bats arrive on the next plane from the Burgh.

Need a win in game 2 Wednesday.

Another bad offensive effort today...But it was against Oswalt. However,Ohlendorf pitched well enough in the 2-0 loss.Why is it when the Pirates put a good pass on the ball like Doumit last night and Church today they look like sure HR'S but the die just short? Berkman hit balls the past two days that were basically check swings and they went out to the opposite field no less.I know it's a bandbox down there but do you think they turn up the AC and blow the wind out when the Astros are up? The Twins were blamed for that a few years ago...I know i'm digging deep for excuses...

Ohlendorf pitched a good game for the Burgh. Take away the 2 solo homeruns, he did good enough for the win.

However, Oswalt was lights out as he gave up 1 hit in the first inning and then no hit the Bucs the rest of the game.
