Southwest Wood Bat Classic
Chillicothe Post 62 beat Waverly by a score of 12-2 in 5 innings to win their opening round game of the Classic. Nick Rose picked up the win for the Riverbats. Brandon Blackburn picked up the loss for Waverly. In the first game of the night, Hillsboro beat Portsmouth in 8 innings.

What is the Post 62 record this summer?
I would guess well below the .500 mark from the games that I have seen reported.

Post 62 will play Hillsboro at 12:30 today instead of 5:30. Waverly forfeited their games today as well. It is a shame they are cancelling after playing only 1 game in the tourney. It screws over all the other teams who have paid to enter the tourney. Don't they have a junior team they could bring players from?

Post 62 lost to Hillsboro 9-8. Only one win in the tournament against Waverly.

Re: Southwest Wood Bat Classic
All I can do is apologize for having to cancel games. There is a Junior team at Post 142 and for reasons not understandable to me, players were not required to move up in support of their Senior Team, or to prevent the surely unintentional consequence of hurting other teams and their kids. It was not our players intention that anyone be hurt by our lack of support. The black eye we wear because of this event will last but just a season or two, but a black spot will remain forever on our hearts.
I do realize the negative effect that this has had on those in the tournament, those in our league and the longterm ill effect it will have on Pike County Baseball. Again I offer up my deepest apologies. My apologies go out to each Post represented in the tournament, each coach, and each kid. My apologies go out to each Mom and Dad that missed work to attend a game that didn't take place, or drove all of those miles to support you sons and their teammates. I apologize for each act that was done in vain because of our inablility to put a team on the field.
I understand that each team that was scheduled to play us in the tournament got cheated a baseball game. We paid full entry and played 1 game. The Waverly team boys really got cheated worse than any. The boys that were there and ready to play have been the rock on which the program and season was built. Their efforts extended all the way back to November to fund raisers designed to help finance the Senior Team 2010. They took care of the part of the season over which they had control. Unfortunately for them, they didn't have control over injuries, attitudes, and previous outside commitments.
I apologize to the local businesses that pledged their support. I apologize to the parents that went out to the private sector to silicate and gain that financial support.
I apologize to our Legion Post. These honorable men and women sponsored us and we let them down. They scraped to raise the funds and then selflessly gave them to us; and we failed to complete our charge. I respect those people for the support they have given this failed program.
Most of all I apologize to our opponents for all of the individuals associated with the Post 142 Shockers Baseball program. Our players really are great kids. Do yourself a favor and befriend one of them. You will find a warm pleasant person of respectable values. You will find beating within them the genuine heart of a champion.
Too bad I guess; bad things happen to good people in this life. We hope that the bad taste we left you with doesn't last forever.

What is going on with Post 142? The program was growing. But now they can't field a team in a tournament in which they pay to play in WOW!!!!$450. The Legion can use that money for our VETS.
