Just be glad the bengals didnt have a team back then. You wouldnt even have those wins. Which was a divison win by todays standards. From what i have seen latley, If ohio is ever going to get back to the superbowl, That road will have to go through cinci.
Re: CINCINATTI BENGALS, PLEASE MAKE A STICKY AS WELL, THANK YOU.
Bengals won the afc north in 2005 and 2009. Bengals had a lot of injuries going into the playoffs. There closer than what you think. They need to get over the hump. And mikey boy has done a great job latley ,hes letting his coaching staff make decsions. like in the draft, which has done very well . Bengals are really trying to win. Fans can see that. As for the superbowl vs the old championship, Which can you dodge better, 32 arrows shot at you or 8.

The Bengals start practicing for real Thursday, so let’s get a leg up on some of the themes, sound bites, headlines, blogs, posts, links and tweets that are going to inundate the landscape for the next week or so:
Lewis welcomes most talented team in his eight seasons:
All but three starters are back for a division winner that won 10 games and swept the AFC North. Every starter returns for the NFL’s No. 4 defense. And this just in from Dave Razzano, a former 49ers scout that prepared for the ’88 Super Bowl Bengals.
“On paper this is the best Bengals team in the history of their franchise,†Razzano recently told Playmaker Mobile. “They are absolutely loaded with talent. They got a lot better at wideout. They obviously have the franchise quarterback. They got a lot better at tight end. They have solid corners. They have great defensive line depth and linebackers. This team, their offensive line is a little above average, doesn’t really have any weaknesses. I think their biggest weakness might be their average offensive line, and I wouldn’t even say that’s a weakness.â€

gahs4ever wrote:Not to be argumentative but you live in the past more than I do. When Paul Brown died, I distinctly remember telling Bengal fans where I worked that the brains of the outfit was dead and unless Mikey Boy and Katie were willing to turn the organization over to football people or better yet, to sell the team, the Bengals and winning were things of the past. That prophecy has proven to be pretty much spot on with a very few seasonal exceptions.
Arguing pre-Super Bowl championships is a dead horse because those who deny the validity of them refuse to recognize that they have to use the same logic on every other professional sport. Thus, the Yankees of the old 8 team AL who won those 20-30 World Series are invalid because they are "like divisional championships."
And the domination of the old Montreal Canadiens likewise doesnt count because most of them were won back when the NHL was "the original six."
The Super Bowl may have expanded playoffs and more teams in the league, but it is still the NFL and the Super Bowl champion is nothing more or less than the NFL champion. To say anything else is a bold faced lie, and had the Bengals been around back then and won one or more of those pre Super Bowl championships there is no doubt that you would claim them and be even more proud of them as you are your two Super Bowl losses.
If you paid any attention to what I posted earlier, I am not picking on the Bengals when I say neither team (Browns included) has been relevant in the NFL the past 20 years. Division titles are not playoff wins, and neither are winning regular seasons. Neither team has many winning seasons, divisional titles, and zero playoff wins over that time span. Those facts are as painful for me as they should be for you, and if it gives you some kind of satisfaction to know that you beat the Browns (who doesnt?) while going another playoff winless year, then so be it.
I dont know how I can be more objective or fair than that.
And you have the Steelers to thank for that.

At worst the Bengals go 4-2 in the division.
At best the Browns go 1-5 in the division.

I don't know if the Bengals will win the division this year, I think they're a wild card team,
that will be hoping to play in Jan. with a 9-7 record.

That guy must not remember Bengals teams of the Anderson/Eiason era who sported one of the best O-lines in history and had the skill players to put points on the board like a pinball machine. He is prejudging a team that has yet to win a single playoff game over two Super Bowl teams of the past.
Games and championships are won on the field; not on paper. He may be proven right, but at the very least he is premature.
Like he said , best team on paper. And the bengals did it on the filed last year when no one gave them a chance.
I HOPE it continues. But it looks better than last year. But who knows. Your right , we will see on the field.

Oh it wont be on my wall...it will be on here in the biggest, boldest letters I can find and it will be remembered often on here. Your key words being "at best" and "at worst."
The math is simple, and right in front of you.
Bengals beat Cleveland twice and split with Baltimore and the Steelers = 4-2
Browns suck! Likely get swept, but might get a win, 1-5

Re: CINCINATTI BENGALS, PLEASE MAKE A STICKY AS WELL, THANK YOU.
whats sad is , we cannot even have a discussion about the bengals, and their fans. without these outbursts from others. we get too wound up over our sports teams, i was merely trying to give bengals fans every opportunity to talk about their team, as browns fans. to bad it's turned into another ironton/logan type thread.
