NFL 18 GAME SCHEDULE

Post by ace63 »

The owners are meeting now to want a 18 game schedule in nfl. They might drop 2 preseason games.
I think it can be done if they drop the 2 preseason games. But I think teams would need more training time.
I would change the rooster from 53 to 65. Put 12 on practice squad. The way players are getting hurt even in preseason they could run out of players. 2 more games that count are better than 2 that dont count. But thats just me.
ESPN did a fan poll and fans voted 90 % they would like 2 more regular games and drop 2 preseason games.

18 games is a little much when injuries are so common. Many do not play in some preseason or just part of preseason games. Before they add games they should do better with the treatment and prevention of concussions. Also this will have games when it is very hot.
They will have do do something for preseason to better evaluate players to make the team. Those rookies and free agents who are backups and special teams players would favor players who went to well known schools. Unless a team has a very good evaluation process.

I'm fine with eliminating 2 preseason games and adding 2 games to the regular season.

I think season ticket prices will increase accordingly in the process.

I'm not picking on your post it just caught me eye. :122245

If they take away the buy week they are only adding 1 week to the schedule, so heat shouldn't be an issue. About 7 to 8 players actually MAKE the team..Going into trainning camp most teams have 5 to 8 roster spots open. There are lots of things you can do besides preseason games to evaluate players. The preseaon has become another tool for owners to make money, THATS IT!

They will have to expand rosters. I was thinking 68 and 7 on the practice squad.

I don't really care if they go to 18 games. 16 seems like plenty to me.
If the NFL wants 18 games then at some point they will have 18 games.

Take away the two preseason games but leave the schedule at 16. Otherwise, you are going to watch Peyton Manning sitting on the bench for four games instead of two at the end of the season. :122248

Some players are saying that the move to 18 games would need to add another bye week. Taking away preseason games will make observations of some players who get noticed by other teams if they do not make it. True that teams will need to use other means of evaluation. But some cases you want to get a rookie player real game experience against someone you do not practice with. This may led teams to hold dual practices.
